We know how to give, but a lifetime of greed, brings little love, do you sometimes wonder, if it’s in our creed, while we rage and plunder, in this darkest winter, does kindness have a need, to tremble at our future, make a gift or number, for all our misplaced seed, with indistinct lovers, perfume and sweet lipstick, matching high heels, grant us forgiveness, rub stones or a timber, pray for quiet days at sea, if luck makes us shiver, we have to believe.

We dream of justice, shoved or tossed away, seeking love, we think of our own, who sought that reign, whom we now flee from, will rage alone absolve us, or our troubles gain, as slaves to broken promise, calendar years are shown, they only need one page, revealed as days turn brown, uncertain questions, haunt us each day, rise alone like ghost ships, we cannot tap the flow, they weave around our name, we have to go, leave what dreams remain.

When I scream, of three missed trains, your face smiles in solace, is it only a wish to share, that love should stay, your eyes make it clear, those songs are a dream, the wine you drank away, red lights cafe's and seamen, beneath toue hard stare, trees in the gentle rain, cigarettes glow like stars, wrap them around your feelings, you’ll never change, in all your dealings, a bed and hospice chair, you look so great today, no whisper of groundless fears, you danced to stay sane.

Sat in a lemon light, cars sweep alongside me, everything will be all right, sunrise over Athlone, Charlies cafĂ© serves mint tea, good as anywhere being alone, want no more desert fires, would prefer to sit and read, cocoa and an early night, salt cakes around the shore, men go home for a meal, those dancing years long gone, exhort a glass of wine, from last night’s soiree, every night a terrible shine, I’ll go again to Ballymore, dawn holds its own disguise, return by bus to the port, Spring’s brown days come by, I dream about the sea, everything around’s me fine, a soul could settle here.

Is it a sin to go alone, do only children dance, down the long slopes, Verde on the terrace bar, Campari dark glasses, chance, an evening the suburbs adore, outside opera house Lake Como, I pray our wounds will lance, my stay at this rodeo, loving someone from afar, sheathed in the middle distance, who am I to deny her laugh, sourball colours blah blah blah, your electric prance, demise of yet another star, I’ll see her again I hope, cooled by her glance, a singing fire to rake, the rhythm of her balance.

Who beseeches lonely bums, sets afire pallet frames, all to guide us home, cotton, gold and hair spikes, what games we play, how we wield the dice, I dance to a different drum, moonlight meets my gaze, a lovely songbird thrums, do I settle here or fly, flit from place to place, or listen to its lullaby, springtime grass has come, trees burst down the lanes, they call me Sugar Plum, will I sway in dusty light, my name reside on buttered waves, others ask me why, love always greets my days?

Do we think of others, while howling down the phone, giving our friends a blub, prayers and frightened sinners, our thoughts get blown, along blue green rivers, drummers play and look above, parties where you feel alone, men search for easy love, spring throngs with winners, but you can only flow, or die by evening sunset, put your hand beneath the covers, seek for answers you don’t know, play yourself out of trouble, resist that guy’s guilty twitter, instruct your eyes say no, I mean, does the light trick us tells us where it wants to go ?
