A cracked dirty spoon,
offers no insight,
or makes you look cool,
here in this game,
a race for your life,
do you hold the reins,
don’t be a mule,
spinning cooked over lies,
stop what you’re doing,
your eyes see the pain,
brain reels like a firefly,
let them go their way,
what makes it so futile,
you cry inside,
some really need you,
when others ask why,
if you're going insane,
show them what's right,
act goody two shoes,
you’ll be fine,
who needs to be cruel,
you’ve got the sunlight

Why dream of empathy,
sitting on a wall,
too drunk to speak,
enough to raise the stakes,
risk being torn,
the useless dates we make,
I wait for the seasons,
with my crown of thorns,
giving up on reason,
kids run about the place,
being cast forlorn,
I have to act brave,
don’t look at me please,
like you’ve been taught,
dreaming in the sea,
a hand that shakes,
askance at my only call,
understand I conjugate,
this is not really me,
jellied to the core,
a flower of deep tranquillity,
needing more.

He will dance around you,
scream for another loan,
say everything’s bad juju,
sunlight, water, he’s up high,
like some waving comb,
God knows who makes it right,
I walk the avenue,
my daisy head is blown,
he paints me lemon blue,
throws craps to the night,
will break any curfew,
forget about the fights,
when I cry for truth,
know I’m not alone,
can't be bothered to argue,
what's worse is the silence,
all that's gone to ruin,
my once partner’s niceness,
he’ll receive his dues,
reveal his broken bones,
what is there that's new,
he’s never coming home.
Jess
Da's back in the pen,
my stomach turns to rope,
Ma stands there bereft,
if you really want class,
consider that joke,
when you turn grass,
be the first to offer,
smoke with their loans,
you the first son,
if you can’t be assed,
then leave them alone,
don’t poison their glass,
even pretend,
their hurt is gone,
with all your mess,
the ugly crap,
sung down their phone,
don’t say they’re last,
when needing your help,
give them some scope,
if they are like lepers,
live on your own

Are you aware,
if you're so great,
no one really cares,
I’m looking for a home,
a web across my face,
you're too far gone,
who needs to share,
the spin of this plate,
just find me one here,
it’s no fun alone,
when your voice fades,
you’ve drunk the lot,
in chains on a chair,
talk of great escapes,
your voice shot,
a hymn to who’s won,
when shutters raise,
a time that feels old,
what if you care,
to pull at my traces,
don't you understand,
it’s too late.

Put me on the train,
I can hardly speak,
drunk in the rain,
forget sunlit avenues,
the roof that leaks,
a straining crew,
Liverpool or Marseilles,
anywhere that speaks,
not somewhere fake,
I’ll see you soon,
before my hair is grey,
in your lavender room,
don’t mark the day,
when my crazy deeds,
come out to play,
besides you flowers bloom,
love turns at ninety degrees,
you sing all my tunes,
nothing to say,
who would believe,
my legs are forsaken,
smelling the sea.

Kevin
Please don't moan,
stifle your screams,
come rolling home,
a knife to my throat,
I know where you’ve been,
does that keep you going,
I just need a stone,
to throw in the sea,
searching for love,
don’t dance with my ghosts,
happy as a queen,
toasting the lost,
when you love alone,
is that what you mean,
to hurt the most,
in your glass groans,
you once used to tease,
my quilted soul,
don’t come here to atone,
for your busted schemes,
I’ve no more to loan,
clean out of dreams.
