Penny
Waiting for the train,
an ordinary day a breeze,
on methadone you never pray,
Amtrack kicks up a spray,
this isn't my scene.
long journey nerves are frayed,
its gone half past eight,
she waves goodbye to dreams,
i'm cool but burn with rage,
the way she closes the gate,
i still feel the heat,
me who'll take the blame,
carriage windows in the rain,
it's never just to plead,
that makes her shout too late,
she'll always make me pay,
you see what i mean,
loving now with Tammy Ray,
face narrowed to a scream.

Omaha
She measures a distance beaten,
by public telephones,
across fields of blue wheat,
she won't bathe in wine or yeast,
isolated but not alone,
living by a rolling creek,
a granny with rolled up sleeves,
like the catechism she holds,
and rifle next to the sheets,
what better cure is a cry of ease,
than to surrender perfume soaked,
with a lover from the East,
her drink is whisky free,
ravaged lipstick Eau De Cologne,
she whispers her feelings,
secrets like lemons are seeping,
from her white garden wall,
she thinks to defeat them,
carrying this load.

Nula
Ride through a field of corn,
my lover asks,
dance like you were never born,
an altar to pray upon,
how can you live like that,
my heart beats without scorn,
i want to tell her soon,
roar like a big cat,
i'm not a fool to dream,
flee this love that's torn,
the kids are on the flat,
my loving ain't done,
spirit an ancient charm,
from this little chat,
gallop beneath a perfect sun,
run before a following storm,
its not much to ask,
ride the rails, fly this form,
adjust the Ray Bans.
Nika
Do you know better,
wonder still if stripped,
you read the letters,
wiser than a caress,
kissing your finger tips,
wearing a little dress,
Aretha your request,
rolling off your hips,
drinking San Miguel is best,
forget easy duress,
awaiting ships,
the sun at its crest,
Naples all undressed,
but you laugh and skip,
plenty of time to rest,
dance a lovers set,
forget what you've hid,
Sixth Fleet back again,
like little kids.

Nancy
Did you fake our marriage,
you'd gamble anything,
to avoid that passage,
your daughter's carriage,
all your could have been's,
only trouble at that Vendage,
was it different with others,
including those who dream,
called you to the barrage,
unpolished clouds of image,
while a calendar screams,
siphons off what you presage,
smells of river and rain,
blowing dust on your schemes,
your wild arrangements,
howling for advantage,
chasing numbers with ease,
maybe you can calculate,
reasons you're not free.

Zani
I want to be free,
says my lover from on high,
my lyre at blue coracle speed,
between her hand and the sea,
eyes opaque as she looks at sky,
her cigarettes wait greedily,
she's on a funnel gazing spree,
a horizon that's bright,
she thinks she's a celebrity,
the power is choking me,
kind but sheds no light,
on what she calls her mystery,
she'll stand no scrutiny,
places she knows she's right,
its a short step to eternity,
can't you please see,
where in exploding certainty,
the urge for harmony,
fires rage at night.
