Bernice
Trees of a green beach,
that your bones can't undo,
spread by gentle breeze,
a banshee wail of what to see,
and what to lose,
when it hits your creek,
you lie before the enemy,
will you slake their mood,
hidden by wine and scree,
a terrible supply of energy,
unshaven workers drool,
can they see your feet,
it's hard to be discreet,
what you've been through,
so why laugh easy,
the mangrove ticks with heat,
fish hang stunned by pools,
on yellow sand you redeem,
all that bathe's you.

Brooklyn
Its an untidy little family,
those three missed trains,
when you left for Cleveland,
was is it only a wish to share,
that love should remain,
alive at the vanished home,
or are those lines too neat,
in the wine you gave away,
after singing in the streets,
beyond the frosted glare,
your bloodless eyes in winter rain,
smoke blowing off your hair,
wrapped around you like Teralyne,
you’ll never change,
our Ma used to say,
a bed in the hospice scheme,
orderlies rush with trays,
no more whistles of childhood dreams,
you laugh just the same.

Ava
I wake to a lemon light,
my lover lies supine,
everything now is all right,
sunrise on the Levantine,
where Cavafy lived and died,
making verses to Alexandrine,
in Arab clothes taking tea,
an iron kettle on the fire,
his heroes look to Constantine,
salt whorls a global tone,
swallows thrum yellow skies,
her dancing shakes lovely bones,
and exhausts the loins,
of last night’s wine,
she won't want to dramatise,
or turn need to fight,
the dawn of early disguise,
lights from our Valentine,
hot brown days go by.
tidal stones
draw them near
absence of any pain
as if this hurricane
no fire or blue reason
she won't ever see
above us the sky
looking out she sees the sky,
her e cigarette treated,
like a wing on the lee,
a horizon that's bright,
she thinks she's a celebrity,
the wind is all seeing
is clear.

Abira
Is it a sin to will you home,
do only children dance,
in years long gone,
Verde warms the terrace bar,
Campari, sunglasses, chance,
you'll adore my shining car,
a grave outside your bones,
i pray at the gates of France,
regret you haven't come,
looking at you from afar,
sellophane shimmer in far distance,
who am i to name your star,
sour ball dusk on your phone,
starlings wing your electric prance,
evening glints your perfect tone,
will I see you again,
feel awkward at your glance,
drumming fires atone,
my furious balance.
Aileen
How can i contemplate gain,
acting like some forgotten seer,
as if that hurricane,
will protect my bones,
make a river draw them near,
a time to be sought alone,
like animals of the plain,
howl weeping towards our fear,
can we ever love again,
last winter by tidal stones,
when we sat close to tears,
was it like coming home,
does our soul work that way,
a trapeze of childless years,
eyes trying to fix a place,
where we don't hesitate,
when she draws me near,
the absence of any pain,
suddenly is clear.

Abiyar; started here for the volume 3, 2019 dv
We stand with her ashes,
she made us swear at the ferry,
we lay her down with her Sash,
she cut a fine dash
dismissed worries we levied,
said life is but a flash,
thank God for her cash,
what it was not to worry,
whirr of the morphine backlash,
more than any drum crash,
purr from a yellow reverie,
are we not the people she asks,
in the manner of her fashion,
we all accepted tributaries,
once as fired as Potash,
Orange kids without a wash,
proud at the morning jetty,
cheeks pale as potato mash,
her migrant epiphany.

Zena
I want to be free,
says my lover from on high,
between you and the sea,
no fire or blue reason,
looking out she sees the sky,
her e cigarette treated,
like a wing on the lee,
a horizon that's bright,
she thinks she's a celebrity,
the wind is all seeing,
kind but cold cabin light,
she has hopes of eternity,
it won't stand scrutiny,
in places she thinks she's right,
a short step to eternity,
but can't you please see,
on these long flights,
bags shifted for harmony,
weigh heavy at night.
