Hortense

She's bored, don't fake an interesting life, say how you were adored, when they let you remain, you cried for days inside, washed shirts in the rain, now you talk without pause, make sudden tinkled chimes, she's heard those tales before, a missive suddenly contains, all she deems wise, her coat hangs on nails, left as an afterthought, gone on the tide, slipped away untaught, you barely knocked her door, regrets don't ask why, emotions too poor, to understand your lies.

You never say what's true, what you saw, in the alley without virtue, dance again to the moon, pray with some lonely whore, your head full of tunes, when your lover groans, don't say things like that for, why break her bones, only fools live like you, crying out your holy orders, making strange concoctions to brew, you sweat in furious tones, as if divined by horses, riding here like Empress Jones, tell me am a fool to leave you, you'll pay a heavy score, your face is turning blue, I walk the floor.

Holly

Before a stranger she pleads, the sound of a removal van, destroys any sense of ease, her offering is a moan, who could fault her tan, each song rings like doom, that intones she's not free, the bars are full of men, does it matter on your knees, without ships or their groans, she looks deadpan, at empty faces crushed bones, now chained prays and keens, inwardly says walk with elan, i'll die at this scene, that sweet insouciant breeze, in the prisonhouse by chance, her face folds in creases, begs for a dance.

Idola

Our love of the rain, is a burning tyre, not pine needles and hay, an offering to the Gods, like ice cold fish knives, to show we're not alone, we were never easy or brave, around blue midnight, for what my family craves, demons rattle their bones, among candlelit signs, they pester me for loans, will take them anyway, our eyes meet the tide, at some terrible place, won't keep trouble at bay, this lifeline required, stumble in the roaring Hades, dampen their fire.

We stand by an unlit lamp, a tree, a bridge, the remains, of dinner like two tramps, who cannot bear, your red lips and white face, or a cigarette to share, suggesting the stamp, of forgotten domains, and faded glamour, like you were happy there, listening to the rain, before velvet au pairs came, and lost you a mansion, staking their claims, while your horses pranced, now your ace is distance, a cool look outside cafe's, showing them the dance, seeing eyes race.

Honey

That year was no symphony, always some reason, my partner fell out with me, a photographer of the dead, unashamed functional streams, wants to give it a rest, all our could have been's, are dazzled by the sea, radiotherapy changes everything, I always failed the test, difficult to find productivity, when other lies have spread, no poets gets immunity, or can rage about midstream, when it's time to pee, laughter comes not too deep, heaven is ice cream, lipstick, perfumed busy as a bee, praying for peace.

Hayley

Don't ever go wrong, she carries yellow lists, searches rooms for one down, your heart inside your bones, chained against her fits, places she won't go, you might spend a ton, or need a ship, be prepared to hack it home, not what she proposes, nor whom she enlists, even if it comes to blows, knowledge always sits alone, rain lashes down in fits, across frightening horizons, she regulates like a metronome, in this house of whispers, storms carry her along, make it swift.
