Forty

We share jokes and put, hope on those who disappear, geese rise in the dusk, no one hires a crown, to be ushered in here, for pulling her down, and those who are fussed, she'll always hold dear, they know what's been lost, in our summer town, where everything is clear, you know who is sound, someone to trust, she walks in like the deer, with a hint of musk, in hazy bars she's known, to hide away the fears, never on her own, we torch the falling years, each night is a must, the laughs and happy tears, a life before the dust. .

Thirty Nine

Hail a ship for France, say what you want to say, you won't get another chance, don't let me act untrue, life is framed, you're no fool, face it you're banned, if you let me trail, a creature's prance, i'll tell you what to do, when kindness fails, to make things smooth, why look askance, the room's a dark pale, passion always passes, kindness might acrue, nothing more to say, so little to needing you, sliding down the scale, God's sake make me pant, turn me around again, let's have another dance.

Thirty Eight

Your red lips flash ornate, in rooms where flowers grow, champagne cognac to chase, forget how much we blew, kick the need to know, polish lonely jewels, we'll always be ingrates, don't worry about the loan, celebrate what remains, you never deem to rue, the way we've been let down, no longer part of you, a worry without gain, at supper ask for bones, stumble in the drains, believe it's all a ruse, a dream of past night's gone, play some homesick blues, wouldn't it be great, to live life fresh anew, tumble in the rain, feel we never lose.

Thirty Seven

Since you've gone away, i don't know what to do, but each night pray, laugh in a hurricane tone, see my shape in pools, don't use me like a drone, or trick me anyway, the sea still surrounds you, you say there is a train, that leads to the foam, take me if you want to, but not just as a loan, walls are turning grey, you say howdydo, when you're on the make, but want to go alone, not singing of the Blues, with your bag of stones, your eyes shine like jakes, see me here in truth, rising on the plain, i will catch you soon.

Thirty Six

Fire and the evening light, where you can see what's true, save the times I cry, longing for that zone, that doesn't come with blues, North or Southern tones, this village is our life, it's always here to sooth, not lost on Freeway lights, puts jelly on our bones, accepts all we do, when we seek to quietly atone, living here's a paradise, we never makes the news, just want a better life, to shelter all that's home, this place is our glue, far from being alone, cities aren't that nice, no need to look through windows, , or feel a need to fight, to know who's screwing you.

Thirty Five

Beat down my walls, flit amidst the rain, hover at infirmary's door, thank god for my home, you are my shame, always looking to roam, what are you doing this for, just leave on a train. I'm not divined by whores, why can't you atone, dance away the pain, blow love down a trombone, you chart away the score, your face a savage shade, say I'll pay you roar, don't spit on the floor, spinning out your games, no one needs you anymore, you always touch the bone, never want to say, the time is too raw, face yourself again.

Thirty Four

Please don't identify, one lonely departure, between moon and sky, say to me there's nothing, not ripped from a sewer, you never would offer, like angst on a wedding night, scared of telling the truth, stuff that'd make it right, if you really want to suffer, don't turn on my blues, or behave like a tosser, leave stuff out of sight, saved for some other fool, butter my dreams by candlelight, you should enjoy calling, instead of being cruel, embrace everything, why stop me trying to fly, bring good news, I don't dance on wire, to pay my dues.
