Do you even care,
I'm breaking up the pattern,
that's gone beyond a dare,
have you read my news,
within your open wallet,
I'm not in love with you,
your hand around me curls,
squeezes when I'm startled,
despite the way things turn,
carry on won't you,
under trees or car parks,
you'll never know what's true,
jewels won't bind this girl,
ships roll by forgotten,
so much more to learn,
I go cold before your blues,
God is not for mocking,
won't believe it will you,
the banner lies unfurled,
can't you see me rocking,
it isn't me you've turned,
lost among the blossom.

Dream talk doesn't hurt,
it's enough, Basta,
you're not a candy whirl,
silken tents you've blown,
never collapse,
face moulded like a stone,
plates you sometimes hurl,
nothing holds you fast,
sweet talk makes you curl,
say life is not your own,
in many ways it's crass,
consider that part gone,
you're not perturbed,
now this time has passed,
flags are not unfurled,
dance on brown chairs,
sing a song like glass,
your face to the air,
the way you smoke,
when you sell the pass,
nothing's worth that dope,
keep this love or burn,
love is on the gas,
turn the flame down,
make it last.

Please don't act so fine,
playing out your games,
always seeking good times,
maybe try the truth,
fixed in some lousy frame,
it's always there with you,
what never turns out right,
is far away from pain,
sleeping bad, drinking wine,
you're such a bum tune,
coming home you say,
why not bring me good news,
naked without your crimes,
no one hears your claims,
lost to your own designs,
you haven't got the blues,
waiting for a dismal train,
but it's drawing in on you,
when you run for coastlines,
or if you see the rain,
remember these lines,
whosoever gains.

She knows what I mean,
knowing how I roam,
stone faced to the deal,
she's cool but burns with rage,
when I atone,
always opens the gate,
this isn't my scene,
journey's nerves are blown,
long past where I've been,
it's useless to hesitate,
knife’s now on the bone,
I'm always too late,
never safe to heed,
the mess of what I'm doing,
no one hears me plead,
wave goodbye to taste,
she's left me all alone,
my turn now to wait,
I wonder how it seems,
will she hear me groan,
make me take the heat,
wonder where she's gone?

From her white garden seat,
she carries a load,
secrets spread like poppy seed,
stuff you keep,
ravaged by lipstick or Cologne,
she whispers her feelings,
others call trick or treat,
she surrenders perfume soaked,
to drink her whisky neat,
living by a swollen creek,
the bible has a hold,
this grandma rolls her sleeves,
a rifle next to the sheets,
she's no rolling stone,
no better cure than ease,
won't bathe in love's defeat,
isolate but still at home,
little time for feasts,
she measures the string beans,
there are no public telephones,
down fields of blue wheat,
she's not alone.
Fiona two
I'm not a fool at dawn,
to say anything like that,
my eyes aver without scorn,
I want to be at sea,
on a wooden raft,
there's still time to dream,
summon ancient form,
from our little mat,
sail into a perfect calm,
I want to speak clearly,
not roar like a big cat,
say this is not some scheme,
I'm torn,
living life on the flat,
my life isn't done,
can I play the sweep,
adjust my Ray Bans,
dance before tea,
gallop through a field of corn,
would you like that I ask,
move like never born,
wouldn’t that be a gas?

Don't Forget you're better,
than those little kids,
even if they stick together,
they come down here for booze,
kissing their fingertips,
as if there's more good news,
love is not forever,
where you laugh and skip,
time at all or never,
throw off the Tuesday Blues,
roll around your hips,
it's the time for truth,
nothing beats duress,
giving liars the slip,
grabbing hope at its crest,
who needs a little dress,
lipstick on your lips,
Juke Box at your request,
would you be lesser,
if you stood there stripped,
binned all the letters,
wise in what you miss?
