Johnny Two

Since you've been at home, we don't know what to do, each night pray alone, sleep this time of day, hear you snore the blues, nothing more to say, you break the maddened stone, ask what’s up with you, who cares who atones, the walls are turning grey, sin is not your tune, you've eaten all your cake, say you have to go, to always play the fool, carry your bag of tomes, confined within this space, earn your piece of truth, lilac as a snowflake, sing and praise our bones, see the creep of moon, new horizons better than loans, take them as your due.

Johnny

Standing by an unlit lamp, a tree, a bridge, shaking, looking like a tramp, I listen to the news, someone else to berate, other cud to chew, better take a chance, if I play this game, either that or France, hoping I'm not askew, wondering what's to gain, singing out the blues, all this stuff about path, they c'n scatter my remains, no more wounds to lance, someone will bring a few, say Halleluja what a day, drink before we're screwed, cigarettes and laughs, beers drunk like champagne, life here's a dance, turning into rain.

I sing the joy of praise, see the creep of moon, new horizons not always great, you say you have to go, like you play the fool, laugh like a bag of stones, not content with any place, or single line of truth, life is your going rate, you want to plough alone, not enough to ground you, no one still at home, but roads are never straight, even when lit Blue, trouble's still to rake, never a game of thrones, take me if you want to, but not as a loan, since I've been away, tried to find some glue, but each night pray, you'll find an avenue.

Living here's no paradise, it never makes the news, this district isn't nice, could as well be nailed, stars and sea like glue, put some food on our plate, all we want's a better life, accept what we can do, not kill out of spite, our songs are still regaled, we need a better view, you wonder why we fail, this is how we die, little pieces each of you, don't need to ask us why, what has been created, boils way like stew, doesn't make for easy gaze, home no pale blue light, where we look for truth, naked street nights, no pretty hue.

Some nights I ask why, if we can ever atone, stars burn out and die, might as well be Mars, for all our credit goes, we're just about that far, you're gone within my sight, the wind is black and cold, you tell another lie, if its kids and dogs you want, don't keep getting stoned, buy new cars, can you hear me cry, running from a broken phone, it's not enough to sigh, call another Czar, to bring you back home, or stay where you are, a flame is not our right, the fire is not our home, when lightning rides the sky, warm your yellow bones.

Martha

You scatter all my needs, like ashes on the bar, ask if it brings serenity, blow away my pay, then fly afar, tut tut at terrible waste, I cling to the sea, like someone in a bottle, you won't set me free, it's a different age, you drive a fancy car, but still won't wait, what about my creed, that warm hazy fog, a path to childhood dreams, dancing on the waves, all the stuff you're not, pearls among the wreckage, say it's bad for me, songs leave too many scars, your face like an ice rink, what's going on?

Sal Four

Before my fame, I only thought of you, and the games we played, shadows pass in smoke, set against this failing truth, I'm broke, you threw away, my successful tunes, in that different age, at the hospice alone, can't see in the gloom, or your bones, I fell off the stage, I should have bloomed, made everyone happy, sung a simple Solo, lonely men soothed, on their way home, to begin again, it's hardly new, going down the Freeway, I'll think of you.
