You keep trouble at bay, that life requires, any problems just look away, they pester you for loans, your eyes seek the tide, you're not alone, stumble in the haze, dampen all desire, no one’s so easy or brave, scared to your bones, they won’t call you a liar, or chase you with guns, ride the blue waves, like a cold fish knife, love is the only gain, why don't you 'phone, among candlelit signs, not easy on your own, is this what you crave, a burning pyre, pine needles and hay, a soul on fire?

It's quiet here now, after fifty years of greed, smooth as stone, can still see the cave, where praise be, I hope to be saved, my body under snow, back in the country, when it starts to blow, give me this place, where there is serenity, even on feast days, geese with barren tones, set the air to freeze, right on my shoulder, they honk on their way, late for the season, I'm just the same, in the blue dawn, stripped like the trees, in my hands a rose, the old loving need.

I start the car, when he stamps the tar, like a newborn, he’s a fallen star, I switch off, looking war-torn, right from the start, he won’t join the ark, he’s not even sure, where’s his great heart, can’t find that chart, my son knows the score', it’s gone too far, a trip to the park, old shirts he’s worn, things fall apart, love has no form

Bellow at some cause betrayed, conceal the bitter holy things, take them to your grave, can you afford the Blues, where everyone's your cling, notes come just on cue, what a song they make, a curdled love of dying, everyone knows your fate, smoke cigarettes in the dunes, when called upon to bring, life to such a hula-hoop, watch ships in the bay, you really want to fling, salt to heartaches far away, but a child brand new, laughs at everything, even if it isn't true, don’t gamble all and say, love to me is nothing, can’t cheat the turning page, find a place to sing.
