Sandy Three

Never one to search for gain, every task lent, don't you ever feel the rain, or get sore, putting up the old defence, foxing at the door, no matter what it takes, you’re always present, to ungrateful ‘snakes, fools that sing for applause, you drink like the rest, know the score, no need to remonstrate, to bring out our best, what a player you make, two and two is four, you scatter us then, never ask for more, but when the night breaks, your investment spent, all those cool fakes, will they pay the rent?

Sandy Two

You always try to calculate, what’s squirrelled safe inside, beyond ideas of waste, who it is you treat, a far from common cry, when life is never breezy, your lips won’t fake, neither can they lie, stood before the magistrate, if only they could see, instead of wishing to deny, what makes you be, terrible supplies of opiates, vodka tonics crusty wines, who needs them anyway, try to follow easy, the winter in warm climes, Oceans that make you scream, when you choose to rave, can't forego what’s on the line, nor his lordship’s taste, drink Bacardi Lime

What hurts most inside, something in your face, eyes open wide, all you need to know, no longer drums like rain, on a lover’s furrow, next to this sweetheart's lies, I see you look away, speechless turn aside, a million ways to show, absolve him of all blame, there’s nowhere else to go, dishevelled in your cries, a pirate on the Main, the barometer continues to slide, drink away your woes, you once jumped rail, whisky face aglow, try to step aside, maybe go to Spain, don’t ask for reasons why, just be on your game.

In the spring light, I open the door, see what’s on the line, it's cold for the season, sons and daughters, look to their freedom, out on the Neap tide, a bitter truth’s sought, they ask me why, I’ve brought them here, sunshine over the port, sick of being, without a dime, as if they’ve been caught, in my policy drive, they believe, I’m heading for the slaughter, like a guilty plea, but every walk of life, ends overwrought, maybe my wife, will tell them the score.

Each year makes me a liar, will anyone see, the gaps between my hair, sometimes just a little shove, makes it heaven’s dream, even if you don’t feel love, terribly hard chairs, don’t make it seem, they can accommodate me there, get dressed with a shrug, what about my teeth, grace comes with a rug, act like I don't care, scrubbed sparkling clean, I sail through the air, Joe’s my new Bud, he might rescue everything, rise each night in flood, it's only fair, when evening turns green, take what you dare, it's not me who screams.

When you start to say, I like to dance alone, Just give me a break, sit by the fire, don't go on, you’re not a player, not a second to waste, it's lonely on stones, so far from home, listen on the wire, the bed’s long gone, to calm all desires, bring us this day, not a long silent groan, followed by a hooray, we are not Sapphires, who can ever atone, drawn to the pyre, it'll be our holiday, where we come from, won't be too late, the stuff we’ve done.

You used to be fine, to drink for fun, a laugh bigger than wine, no need for tea, humour lachrymose, jokes your repartee, now that you find, hearing water run, after the wind, is rain start to cease, stuff carries on, with that certainty, to speak when it’s right, never one to lump, what keeps for a while, until it is steeped, hidden from the sun, lost to our dreams, where is the line, the love that runs, bathed in time, to all that is gone?
