Please don't act so fine, playing out your games, always seeking good times, maybe try the truth, fixed in some lousy frame, it's always there with you, what never turns out right, is far away from pain, sleeping bad, drinking wine, you're such a bum tune, coming home you say, why not bring me good news, naked without your crimes, no one hears your claims, lost to your own designs, you haven't got the blues, waiting for a dismal train, but it's dawning in on you, when you run for coastlines, or if you see the rain, remember these lines, whoever gains.

She knows what I mean, how I roam, face down every deal, cool but burns with rage, when I try to atone, always opens the gate, this is my scene, but the nerves are blown, just where I've been, it's useless to hesitate, what is on the bone, always too late, never safe to heed, the mess of what I'm doing, won’t hear me plead, wave goodbye to hate, leaves me all alone, my turn now to wait, I wonder how it seems, now she hears me call, can I stand the heat, crying that she's gone?

From her white garden seat, she carries a load, secrets spill like poppy seed, stuff you keep, like fancy French cologne, she whispers her feelings, let others weep, surrender perfume soaked, to drink their whisky neat, living by a swollen creek, the bible has a hold, grandma just rolls her sleeves, a rifle next to the sheets, she's no rolling stone, no better cure than ease, doesn’t bathe in love's defeat, isolate but still at home, time for feasts, she measures the string beans, no public telephones, down fields of blue wheat, she's not alone.

I'm not a fool at dawn, to feel an utter mess or be cast forlorn, I want to be at sea, on a wooden raft, there's still time to dream, summon ancient forms, design my little crest, sail into a perfect calm, It’s good to speak clearly, not roar in distress, have to pay dearly, I'm torn, living a life like this, my time isn't done, I can play the field, adjust my compass, dance before tea, gallop through a field of corn, do you like this dress, love without scorn, wouldn’t that be a gas?

Don't Forget you're better, red lipstick on your lips, even if they stick together, you don’t come here to booze, kissing your fingertips, there's more good news, love is not forever, where you laugh and skip, time at all or never, kick off Monday’s shoes, roll around your hips, it's the time for truth, nothing beats duress, getting here's a trip, grabbing hope at its crest, who needs a little dress, when you paint like this, Juke Box at your request, would you be lesser, if you stood there stripped, binned all his letters, wiser in all you miss?

Who can speak of empathy, sitting on a wall, a neighbour to the sea, see your eyes come awake, they dance on thorns, all the stuff that’s fake, each day of being happy, is echoed in my calls, then it hits me, who wants to stake, a life of being torn, so I hesitate, some old has been, asks penny for your thoughts, what about infidelity, it’s a different take, on being cast forlorn, a bill of lading, shivering I want to be, not the one who’s caught, it’s not my scene, wondering if I'm born.

What dreams do we keep, they ask us the ghosts, sat on dark cafĂ©’ seats, leave us alone thank you, our faces might need soap, we've heard the news, we are not at sea, throwing away the ropes, just let us be, do what we say we'd do, faith as strong as stone, we don’t need your views, a ticket for the entry, carries a ray of hope, hanging on the breeze, don't ask us what’s true, or even how we know, play some bitter tune, we’ll set ourselves free, ride freight trains home, laugh loud at our beliefs, sweep everything over.
