I'm forever beat, even with a common air, but hope rescues everything, I need to shut up, heaven is a place to share, sometimes feel a little shove, in debt gone to seed, have a go at taking care, it's not easy being free, get dressed feel the bug, never short of prayer, signal to the up above, I know how to keep, a house and wooden chair, drink is my sole conceit, fire brings on the tug, lovely faces dance on stairs, lamp lights lit for love, can everyone see, the gaps between my hair, do I need new teeth, a smile takes me anywhere

Say you’ll get a grip, please don’t rage and bellow, give me that old lip, you don't need drugs to pray, lock them in the hold, find the need to get away, you always make surly trips, a manacled wretched clone, watch others dance and flip, don’t let your spirits fray, down unforgiving zones, lies in everything they say, they make your kisses drip, like drunken bozo's, with their lousy 'scripts, will you get some sleep, on your twenty stone, when faith makes a leap, wonder why your broken kip, fills every childhood moan, there’s another coffin ship, waiting as your home.

You like strong tea, tears lachrymose, to fill up the breech , never one to blow cold, you let yourself go , face crowned with thorns, jokes your repartee, might have once been so, your head starts to weave, littered with scorn , why beat that drum, here is your home, replaced with uncertainty, blue moon in your dome, you just want to believe, the kids have all gone, you and her alone, whisky a scouring stone, when they leave, do you try to atone, walk to the beach, admit that you're wrong

It's been a while, but there you go, I’m no longer a child, when women start to pray, or when the cock crows, you'll have your say, no need to find, what you already know, deep in your smile, a star shows the way, frozen in my bones, there are no trains, say you don't mind, you'd rather come alone, whatever the time, I’ll stay here a while, wrapped against the snow, you have great style, we sit by a fire, listening to the blow, your eyes look wild, lost in your soul.

A diagnosis only half true, I smell the Limes, ask what's wrong with you, act like I already know, ties that bind, blowhard on my bones, hope brings a certain glue, what can be put right, gives me a clue, I won't be alone, in this cosy light, there’s always my home, I’m warm near the flue, it's not a crime, for fire to give news, how to keep going through evening and night, when the kids 'phone, I have to be fine, coffee gets me through, this strange time, wonder what's due?

Time breeds uncertainty, the shouting and fighting, a furious unease, its passage the blues tells me what's right, if you’re not careful, winter's like heating, steals in lilac as night, captures the need, find other avenues, in a dull morning light, who needs this curfew, with walls made of treacle, what's down the line, if it's not seized, need to sink a few, unlock my eyes, it's dark in this milieu, good reasons to scream, is there a sapphire, to burn off the scree, bring me fast tyres?

Will you be the same, a smile beneath cherry trees, each time we separate, the dollars and dimes, bottles stacked like wheat, when we sit drinking wine, now's a morning flame, not just my feet, that plays this tired game, No, I'm not fine, come back to me, don't give me that line, what does it take, a dawn novena, to have you here again, you smile like a wolverine, your body a litany, now should be our time, why can’t you remain, the sun lies uneven, traffic fills the lanes, I wait for the sea.
