Ellie Two
You never mind,
the course of collapse,
always try to be kind,
face like a stone,
when you feel trapped,
it's best you go alone,
won't get frightened,
by men who are strapped,
say they're divine,
who surround you like ghosts,
about to relapse,
know life’s your own,
your heart beats time,
with scarves worn for Mass,
to love is no crime,
Oh no no no,
like shoes on a last,
suffer their groans,
they beg for more wine,
slurp it aghast,
tell them it’s fine,
you cook with gas.

Ellie
She dances in the tide,
her fame is just beginning,
nails me with that smile,
my mother asks what's new,
she is not forgiving,
love's not running smooth,
tobacco blonde full of lies,
fresh alive and kicking,
many a famous night,
what else can I do,
who does the bidding,
tells me life’s a shoe,
you know what's right,
she can demand anything,
sunlight, water, sky,
treats me like a parvenu,
lilac heads are dripping,
she melts me lemon blue,
her lips a twisted knife,
our trips on golden avenues,
her eyes the river wide,
brings me back to you.

Faiza Three
I'll dance to flutes,
if I'm not too late,
wine is for reckless fools,
why heave and groan,
act afraid,
of my fancy French Cologne,
I'll borrow the moon,
church and state,
to stroll these avenues,
we are never alone,
in what we hate,
a promenade of our bones,
now tell me the truth,
is my vision great,
cast in broken ruins,
maybe when I’ve gone,
you’ll recognise my case,
shining like a basilisk,
make me swoon,
call me your fate,
don’t act stupid,
love's not a duel.

Faiza Two
Sparkle like a jewel,
laugh brazen at your tears,
who needs more fuel,
you are great,
what have you to fear,
cancel all bad faith,
turn my head you fool,
you need me siren near,
don't feel spooked,
furled ribbons contain you grace,
my perfume costs you dear,
a twisted crook and gait,
dreamers scatter rules,
ache for visions clear,
golden domes in tune,
on the shipping lanes,
your laden ships career,
tells us all who fail,
break this torrid curfew,
find a passage steer,
nothing’s left to rue,
we’ll dance in better years.

Faiza
You who always slight,
my dress of gossamer hue,
can say what you like,
isn't the sea divine,
my smile is cotton blue,
beams from another time,
I dance in this light
a lover of so few,
make patterns in the sky,
you drink me like wine,
ask what can I do,
my hair is wild behind,
the pictures in my eyes,
you always have another view
from this bridge of sighs,
we live in dismal climes,
my heart bursts in two,
it should be sublime,
no one escapes this time,
nothing left to refuse,
I know what is right,
fortune lies before you.

Mattie
Lit on the corner bar,
well within my credit zone,
won’t end like my Da,
people say pay your dues,
never drink alone,
don’t let yourself stew,
you can play La La,
who needs more loans,
they only go so far,
even with my blood,
tissue and bone,
I still ride the flood,
your hair is silver tar,
Saints shake out their ‘phones,
something inside says Nah,
a trail too well used,
I won’t leave this home,
wagons circle around you,
mine is a lucky star,
never lights on bum notes,
this place is my Spa,
you my inner host.
