Love holds the door ajar, your hair falls down like rain, you don't get very far, but sit around a Pool, silken trees breeze away, can you hear their news, they whisper about your Da, just another player, lonely as a shooting star, the money he tooled, in a poor jaded way, evermore the fool, buys another car, to burnish mother's games, no room for scars, flayed by their rules, forget the hurt they made, that other part of you, taps on the bar, feels the morning haze, hit the road burning tar, who are they anyway ?.

No one can take you, without any name, knowing what’s to love, eyes lit by fire, you know what to do, won’t resist the wire, tempted by the brew, on yellow cards lay waste, always choose, like birds fly higher, not hard to ascertain, which fools are the liars, what you've been through, makes you dance again, bones tell the truth, your tongue won't ask why, you live without stain, hug that patch of sky, your heart seeks good news, follows on its train, some things you can't fool, why run away?

She says from on high, is that the sea, you have to wonder why, if it's true, she’s as bad as me, wingtips shine like jewels, a diamond sun sears bright, she has hopes of eternity, she says she’s fine, what’s wrong with this crew, she enquires breezily, we'll sleep till noon, sailing the sky, nothing else bears scrutiny, in this cold April light, we're so glad and cool, who can expect sympathy, when we act like fools, on these long day flights, we drink for company, don’t know if we're right, but with strange reease.

what it means to try, within a screaming gale, hoping not to lie, in your bones, you don't need to fail, to find yourself alone, studying a time, when life’s a trial, helped along by wine, how you atone, when love wails, in faces around your home, flip a coin see the sky, think of taking sail, best to leave this way, walk-on broken stones, discard desolate mail, be kind to weeping hosts, can’t be worse than Jail, try to dance the while, when you hit the trail, embrace uncertain smiles.

We stretch our sunny days, your smile's a living dream, now you're on your way, save me the good news, like a dear one’s face, you always know what to do, laughing in the rain, on St Anthony's quay, it’s great to see you again, there’s a spirit in you, that’s so easy, no parish of broken rules, I’ll work and save, whenever there's a need, we might even take sail, the lovers you took, are only a dream, you're nobody’s fool, meet me in a warm cafe', return all of that feeling, ask for more cake, no one's speaking.

Is it just this time, your mother's come, singing with a different lie, anyone can phone, or cover up as dumb, love catches in her throat, a stamping ground for crime, no hint of being victim, she won't discuss the times, doesn't do alone, wants to have some fun, way beyond your zone, it’s you who waits in line, says C’mon mum, shaking like a vine, it nourishes her bones, to look around your home, wail out what she knows, each day lost to wine, she won’t waste a crumb, her face a bitter shine, weeping what she’s done.

All of you make jokes, don't disturb the waves, or worry if you’ll cope, never stoop to choose, or firmly swim away, think how much you’ll lose, you're not a dope, to encourage easy ways, as if you had no scope, if you want good news, let others stand and gape, what you say is true, let them moan and mope, note every bitter face, each coming slope, separate the Blues, a distant tide or sail, ships still leave without you, some things you can’t clone, it never is too late, to face the sea alone, it's what makes you great.
