Asha Two

It's quiet here now, after fifty years of need, heart smooth as stone, still as the cave, where praise be, I hope to be saved, my body with the snow, back in my country, when it starts to blow, give me this place, I’ll take serenity, especially on feast days, geese with barren tones, hang the air to freeze, above my right shoulder, they see me sway, the light of the season, I'm still on the rails, in the blue dawn, stripped down like a tree, in my hands a rose, the old loving fancy.

I still hear me Da, laughing like a foghorn, it seems so far, happy he's not scarred, or left forlorn. I start the car, I see him stamp the tar, like a newborn, his ashes fall like stars, I switch off, looking war-torn, right from the start, he’ll never join the ark, not even sure, about his great heart, can’t find that chart, my son knows the score', how it’s gone too far, trips to the funeral park, old shirts he’s worn, why do I tear apart, love has no form

Bellow at a cause betrayed, conceal the bitter holy things, take them to your grave, don’t afford the Blues, let every bell ring, our day will come on cue, what a song they make, a curdled soup of crying, everyone knows their fate, dab perfume around the room, when called upon to bring, life to such a hula-hoop, watch ships in the bay, you really want to fling, salt on heartache far away, with the kids brand new, laugh at everything, even if it isn't true, don’t gamble all and say, their hate to me is nothing, can’t cheat a turning page, find this time to sing.

They’ll let you know, what people feel, almost in their bones, the jilted smile's strain, hung over easy, they see it all this way, take your time right now, in nights without pleasing, a river always flows, why let the low disdain, mirror mountain streams, get on day by day, they want you to blow, from all of justice schemes, where you want to go, you’re a long time delayed, but work within a team, face the dread uncertainty, what you do takes show, tell us how we've been, do more than warm your toes, there is another dream.

Forget all these clowns, that come to woo you, many without elan, as loud as their woes, harbour ships blow hooters, every song sings of home, not just what’s gone, that makes them swoon, but better than a throne, your face deadpan, in bars full of cruisers , you’d rather be on plan, nothing comes by chance, your eyes are ruined, everything comes to pass, head back she raises a laugh, what can they do to her, with hard countenance, strange in these ocean towns, these faded boozers, how they raise your crown, culled from the sewer.

why stay by the door, your face a savage hue, the hurt is swollen raw, no sense of ease, expect them now to Queue, you could never say please, be defined by whores, waiting here in the gloom, there's many in your cause, it’s bad on every street, no one hears good news, but no need to scream, still time to do your chores, make your life anew, sweat in the furious pause, don't shout and scream, spitting out your spume, only fools don’t heed, can't you hear them roar, were you ever the glue, for that long held cause, we're waiting for you

If it’s in your blood, in this house of whispers, who says it’s no good, places you want to claim, haven't had justice, heavy hearts on rusted freeways, time goes bust, something vague is no bonus, being prepared’s a must, find another way, simply do what needs insist, knowledge is always gain, maybe we need a tug, sail on without a ship, when sun lifts the fog, search for love again, walk the middle distance, never bow to shame. an Ocean never floods, why make a fuss, many a life's in trouble, plenty here for all of us.
