Something says we're done, you don’t need a sunset, our ashes blown and gone, give God his due, he’ll take any stupid bet, doesn’t wait for thank- you, fire and distant thunder, traps have all been set, the unfettered wounds between us, my tongue is parchment glue, a seal on every debt, I walk along the avenue, don't know where I’m from, tired of cigarettes, beneath this heavy boulder, say it isn’t true in houses that we’ve left, squabbling over what to do, how our world crumbles, in gardens of the West, on each night wind a number, arms to hold me yet ?

Ollie

Her smile makes you prance, no fear of being caught, lubin for your smart chat, take all the chaff, show them ‘round the course, smoke and act daft, what others have found, singing myself hoarse, is a lack of balance, I just drink and dance, but you make me worse, with your sparky flowers, you hold hands and ask, is this what we're taught, love’s such a gas, then why forget the past, you know about horses, how to turn them out, why not take a chance, draw a toil of water, rock me with a cadence, if it’s such a laugh ?

A cold wind blows, it stokes a fear, suddenly in the shining snow, pearl doves arch above, nothing else comes near, their blazing breasts of love, shimmer on my work clothes, my smile is not dear, there are no bad tones, singing along my weather front, even if I do like beer, fly to those who give, their vision blown, I need to be gone, a lifetime left to moan, I have the will to shove, that barrel of heartless cheer, somewhere down the road, I wear lipstick now you know, love these killer years, a woman from stern to bow, let me make it clear.

Who needs a shrink, when a lover somehow, always wants a drink, one day he might stroll, in the village like a clown, others times rotten lie low, I know what they think, he’ll always miss the furrow, his head down a sink, a display all his own, show them what he’s sown, outrage now he’s gone, I teeter on the brink, a whole investment blown, work and strain and stink, who will want me now, face like an ice rink, heavy as a cow, my politics dull pink, sweat shines on my brow, get away don’t think, I sail above the scarecrows.

Hera

My star is coming home, a wonder of the sky, in shelters you lie prone, why whisper about love, rolling in a death vice, face ravaged by the moon, saints can show their bones, a poem betrays your cry, you can’t afford to moan, doves in sunlight search above, a lifetime of men’s sighs, I fly to those who give, fresh linen and Eau de Cologne, makes me wonder why, blossoms of my red choke, is not disguised for pearls, money only lies, just get through this shift, try to find a loan, I’ll dance like on wire, find a road instead of mist, before I say goodbye.

Eileen

I'm not your latest grip, nor big sea, the yellow light hid, you ask about my lovers, with all their surly needs, they don’t have my number, what I sow to live, to break from the greedy, fashion my limits, find a palace of wonder, witness the creed, like my high heeled mother, red stones and pieces of drift, knowing is enough to bleed, it’s all within my gift, enslave or encumber, a lifetime near Innisfree, the smells of sweet summer, you make me sound limpid, by title or deed, a matchstick in a river, there's much more to me.

Face down terrible claims, no star can refuse, this outrageous fame, you who wonder why, lordly canons of virtue, always want to make me cry, this is no man’s game, TV's blare fake news, chase me through my days, spin the constant lie, let them sing the blues, for all their crass disguise, hardships on the way, nothing here to rue, catch them on the make, only fools will die, beyond the swollen Ohio, look them in the eye, always meet their gaze, act like Scooby Doo, I’m tired of catching planes, heavy with some truth.
