Do you create lost dreams,
you could have owned,
easily arranged with iced tea ,
don't talk to me and goo,
i remember this town.
even if the river’s blue,
the only person in your team,
you consistently let down,
in causes you entreat,
the struggles with your tubes,
all your troubles found,
in that lonely hard school,
others call you a has been,
you could have worn a crown,
I might have been Queen,
resurrecting some hopeless feud,
rent unpaid in rooms with fleas,
do all poets wait for news,
will drinking set you free ?

My great open days,
without a care,
make sense of me you say,
yes, go on, watch me prance,
you know about mares,
but you've never made beds,
you smoke in the haze,
crumple Florentina’s on a chair,
under a broad brimmed hat,
a white faced chancer,
you breathe in thin air,
shout mas vino, clap,
are my legs to your taste,
you’re such a flirt,
the words comes in phrases,
I wonder at your balance,
you haven’t a prayer,
being chained to this dancer,
others glare.

My weekend sings,
in this time of plenty,
especially on my tiny wings,
betrayed by our bones,
can’t anyone see,
the yellow light of fall,
I am dancing on strings,
It is a cruel destiny,
a terribly fragile thing,
we call time our own,
beneath an early rising sea,
but some of us drown,
smell of diesal that clings,
I hate blue Mondays,
fire distinguishes me,
act up play the clown,
reject all flag waving schemes,
take holidays for a month,
my sweet solitary’s.

We know how to give,
but a lifetime of greed,
brings little love,
do you sometimes wonder,
if it’s in our creed,
while we rage and plunder,
in this darkest winter,
does kindness have a need,
to tremble at our future,
make a gift or number,
for all our misplaced seed,
with indistinct lovers,
perfume and sweet lipstick,
matching high heels,
grant us forgiveness,
rub stones or a timber,
pray for quiet days at sea,
if luck makes us shiver,
we have to believe.

We dream of justice,
shoved or tossed away,
seeking love,
we think of our own,
who sought that reign,
whom we now flee from,
will rage alone absolve us,
or our troubles gain,
as slaves to broken promise,
calendar years are shown,
they only need one page,
revealed as days turn brown,
uncertain questions,
haunt us each day,
rise alone like ghost ships,
we cannot tap the flow,
they weave around our name,
we have to go,
leave what dreams remain.

When I scream,
of three missed trains,
your face smiles in solace,
is it only a wish to share,
that love should stay,
your eyes make it clear,
those songs are a dream,
the wine you drank away,
red lights cafe's and seamen,
beneath toue hard stare,
trees in the gentle rain,
cigarettes glow like stars,
wrap them around your feelings,
you’ll never change,
in all your dealings,
a bed and hospice chair,
you look so great today,
no whisper of groundless fears,
you danced to stay sane.

Sat in a lemon light, cars sweep alongside me, everything will be all right, sunrise over Athlone, Charlies cafĂ© serves mint tea, good as anywhere being alone, want no more desert fires, would prefer to sit and read, cocoa and an early night, salt cakes around the shore, men go home for a meal, those dancing years long gone, exhort a glass of wine, from last night’s soiree, every night a terrible shine, I’ll go again to Ballymore, dawn holds its own disguise, return by bus to the port, Spring’s brown days come by, I dream about the sea, everything around’s me fine, a soul could settle here.
