Willa
I still hear me Da,
laughing like a foghorn,
long ago seems so far,
happy he's not scarred,
or left forlorn.
I start the car,
when he stamps the tar,
he's like a newborn,
a fallen star,
I turn the key off,
he looks war-torn,
what about me Ma,
like he's left the ark,
he’s not even sure,
where he's from,
I can’t find a chart,
to tell me the score',
it’s gone too far,
a trip to the park,
an old shirt he’s worn,
things fall apart,
love has no form.

Verity
I hope to keep trouble at bay,
any life requires,
problems just look away,
they'll pester me for loans,
your eyes seek the tide,
tell them we're gone,
stumble in the haze,
dampen all desire,
fools are easy or brave,
scared to your bones,
they won’t call you a liar,
or chase us with guns,
ride the blue waves,
like a cold fish knife,
love is our only gain,
why don't you 'phone,
I dance among candlelit signs,
don't go on your own,
is this what you crave,
me turning up for hire,
pine needles and hay,
a soul on fire?

Ulyssa
It's quiet here now,
after fifty years of grief,
my face smooth as stone,
can still see the cave,
where they let me bleed,
thank God I'm saved,
my body under snow,
taken back to the sea,
rocking on the tidal flow,
give me this grace,
grant such serenity,
attend all my feast days,
geese with barren tones,
sail skies as they freeze,
time on their shoulder,
they honk on their way,
late for the season,
I'm just the same,
in the clean blue dawn,
stripped like a tree,
in my hands is a rose,
the old loving need.

If I’m to freeze,
my soul strung on wire,
someone better set me free,
in your eyes amour,
will you do what's right,
say you know the score,
rock me gently,
mutter everything‘s fine,
don't worry baby,
I'm the soul of lost hordes,
all entwined,
who roll around my floor,
glamorous, perfect, serene,
kiss me quietly,
do what others dream,
a perfect night,
have I just died,
drawing toils of water,
a star across the sea,
I love the morning light,
let me reach the quays,
my ship afire.
Sal
Don't say I’m fake,
that love can't twist,
make me pack my case,
the world hesitates,
like it has a stitch,
I’m not afraid,
someone asks for change,
for a dollar bill,
it'd be churlish to say,
go spin on your plate,
the cheek of his gist,
someone weeps in a door frame,
living around this place,
could be a launderette,
everyone spins their fate,
a little smile migrates,
I'm with all the misfits,
who’ve never seen a wage,
such little time of grace,
when you figure it,
puts a smile upon my face,
nothing's missing.

Riley
You scream bad news,
in troubled nights,
as if you really knew,
all the different tones,
left hanging on the line,
the loving naoled now gone,
flame bursts up the flue,
don't tell me how to cry,
while you turn and look,
it’s not me you locked,
swimming against the tide,
everything held and lost,
no matter what you do,
however you may try,
no one is immune,
who cares who gets phoned,
something deep inside,
shines outside my home,
enough really of your blues,
pillows furl the sky,
death brings no easy due,
even when you die.

Queen
You wonder why I pray,
handed kids like these,
makes you snort cocaine,
run a bath with foam,
not wanting to believe,
all my loving's done,
see your cheap face,
forget to say please,
horizons appear in rain,
in the wind and stones,
I don't need your needs,
assist my journey home,
fire me through the days,
make my troubles cease,
keep wondering about the Bay,
each of my lonesome bones,
becomes suddenly free,
now I'm out that zone,
remembering sweet days,
the trips to the sea,
lord how we praised,
our dance at Thebes?
