Hope
By the rose garden door,
of Saint Phillip Neri,
she watches the poor,
cross Catherine Street,
in their eyes a need,
linen can'twash clean,
the soul of lost hordes,
for some a little weed,
sun falls as they walk,
every evening an entry,
when life is cheap,
it's a beggar's party,
all of them taught,
you don't need judiciary,
to shoplift a store,
only truth is to scurry,
not be indentified,
brought before a jury,
each part of thought,
is the stuff of poverty,
now and then caught,
between moon and sea.

Gini
Sometimes in this place,
you just don't know,
what its going to take,
the same with those,
who forget to show,
don't rate their jobs,
it's best when you pray,
give yourself a blow,
bless those who're late,
how their stories show,
when sheepish they follow,
friends who go alone,
I really want to skate,
moonlit hills not stones,
maybe have to wait,
this café trade is slow,
early wine’s not to waste,
a crowded bar might atone,
it’s a happy day,
listening to a jazz solo,
a cigarette in my face,
morning feels like home.

Faith
In a supermarket yard,
lovely face washed,
by rain and river salt,
always dressed decent,
her trolley for a cross,
sees them lay blankets,
spirits without a spark,
they sit here to rest,
it's a quare clerk,
not put out infrequent,
when clearing the mess,
but thinks of the loss,
they all rob at Primark,
she shops at Hugo Boss,
her life is not stark,
if you pause a momwnt,
best you don't forget,
each of us is vagrant,
they are like larks,
rise to tife's lash,
there's not a cart,
to fill all the wants. ,

Ellie
Signs to shy away from,
we won't make sunset,
hopes scattered and gone,
the Director is due,
he'll arrive by the jet,
get ready to say thank you,
fire and distant thunder,
if we miss our targets,
unfettered cry amongst us,
beyond these daily blues,
our days are well set,
fights scatter the crew,
they treat us with abandon,
no matter what the bet,
know we'll achieve Babylon,
how the world snoozes,
through its little tests,
our party turns to fugue,
on my sleeve’s a song,
no one tells yet,
to buy government bonds,
smoke a cigarette.

Donna
Your house beyond the dunes,
sea roses beneath the sky,
nothing to bring you ruin,
all my friends opinionate,
you're a fashionable guy,
better than the going rate,
I ask God if he's immune,
take this great love aside,
ask if I'm being duped,
fire burns in my grate,
won't tell him how I cried,
smoke rises off the slates,
if it isn't me it's you,
leaping in the tide,
can't you see you fool,
give me shades of grey,
leave me hanging to dry,
old lovers make the case,
they ask about your blues,
are you really that tight,
why say you never lose,
doubt is in their eyes ?

Callie
Do you remember the sea,
the swell and the spray,
our dance at Thebes,
now the kids are flown,
gone away,
look after their own,
can we see the beach,
at the end of the day,
all our loving in reach,
every part of our home,
is suddenly aflame,
now we're alone,
you grab my sleeve,
pull me to the hay,
all my troubles ease,
by the windy estuary,
I hold your face,
it's so pleasing to me,
on horizons like these,
so glad I can pray,
buy me ice cream,
finish what we make.

Bonnie
he has such a giving way,
he brings me champagne,
on summer days,
what can we do alone,
without making waves,
circumstances not our own,
wine pours down my face,
it’s like a healing,
he cuts the Angel cake,
we're never here or gone,
don't even know the rate,
we laugh at the unknown,
choose to live not waste,
our lives to no avail,
call upon God to pray,
we sail down the road,
credit ticks on the slate,
take trips on our bones,
these the greatest plays,
being not scared or tame,
give us time to celebrate,
the heart set ablaze.
