Lara

We look at what remains, carried to us by ferry, a life she disdained, can she hear our groans, full of useless levies, it would turn her bones, thank those blessed days, neither warm nor easy, when a life burned flame, the manner of her tone, flowed on other tributaries, it won't leave us alone, more a silken trail, spun on a wooden rosary, from her morning frame, a promise to condone, every generous actuary money given not a loan, as we catch the train, across the morning estuary, she’d never contemplate, our face of misery.

It’s hard to measure distance, looking down a bottle of beer, what you think is crystal, the tremble in your bones, a river washes clear, a time to be explored, will he be coming home, talks we had last winter, hawks hunt on the weir, don't make me bitter, fast tides on the roll, are you my lover freer somewhere close but alone, when I say it’s finished, heart and eyes in tears, please don't ask penance, in your faded clothes. silver cups my ears, a memory in each zone, your eyes like an infant a trapeze of wasted years,, I record such fastness, all for listing fear

There's times I wish, I’ve waited so long, on this wretched bridge, my taxi’s long gone, now leave me alone, I’m not twenty one, what makes you think, don’t know what I’m doing, getting jealous in drink, splash on more Cologne, who wants to smell cold, strung on these folds, let the moon blink, my ship's coming home, sick and tired of shrinks, smear red lipstick on, an unsteady sojourn, really no one's fault, remain majestic and fit, sweet as my best song, ice cream for this trip, nice and strong.

Do we think of others, screaming down the phone, a cross borne for mothers, pray for all of those, whose thoughts lay blown, across forgotten summers, ' a cornfield smothers, the dance we do alone, men flit amongst us, we can only suppose, by water and blue clothes, what they want to echo, our days fill with lovers, buckets we take home, throwing dice at trouble, our hands a level force, more than we ever know, a river runs its course, in the valley below.

The poetes mauvais, he hates to gloom, are they made of clay, these are their bones, in place of his blood, each time he's alone, has gone back to slay, an old unwritten rule, promised him every day, evening fades the Domes, traces this lonely fruit, he faces night alone, aching for a child I say, what we have to do, ie seize time anyway, birdsong early morning, it's a poor fool, to ignore their warning, maybe I have to state, they hold onto you, get them out the way, give life our due.

Who removes the cast, only children think of home, across thhis singing pass, in the CafĂ©’ du Surpris, they can hear my woes, ask for my spirit's release, Puccini ons the terrace, Campari , dark glasses, soda, my visits here don't last, Why deny this present need, shield me from the Ghosts, come here only for release, like my Goddess Callas, I sing before I moan, Sourballs ease my pallett, sea birds screech and wheel, cliff nests honeycombe, I look again to sea, this place I come from.

Old men who need women, eat calf’s liver and greens, something clings to them, the pity of night groans, a cool breeze seizes, the dread of being alone, worried they appear timid, that skin clings to bones, their desires know no limit, want to make ladies glow, bestow love every evening, bars are their only show, cognac turns breath bitter, even a prosthetic gleam, btings no disco glisten, beneath the idle boasts, know what Goya has seen, richer softer pillows, wine bread falling leaves.
