You'd gamble on anything, your friends say, including the Easter calendar, i wonder kissing your lips, watching cormorants in the bay, roll into harbour like ships, did you think of us then, salt and perfume not far away, clean their wings in wind, did you think of us then, smoking or kneeling to pray, going out as you came in, smiles for other lovers, what an image they make, songs drift one to another, was your life a fake, a search for nights betrayed, where the road takes, numbers to your grave.
