Martha Two
Some nights I ask why,
can we ever atone,
stars burn out and die,
it might well be Mars,
for all the credit shown,
we’re out that far,
sailing through bands of light,
the wind black and cold,
no place here to lie,
if its kids and dogs you want,
ham off the bone,
don’t start new wars,
can you hear me cry,
running out of furlough,
it's not enough to sigh,
we’ll buy that car,
warm our yellow bones,
won’t stay where we are,
the flame’s not right,
space is our home,
lightning rides the sky,
we're not forgotten.
