Yola
Before you turned to me,
carried me on your flight,
I knew what was to be,
who asked for that load,
love you thought was right,
I said bring it on ,
ships famed for their speed,
dispense with sails at night,
you were my every need,
a sunlit garden at home,
deceived beyond my sight,
you left me dancing alone,
those days swept aside,
whole families heard me cry,
seeing such a fool denied,
removed from my cosy throne,
shorn of all my rights,
I stray strongly abroad,
the siren in my smile.

Please don’t let them see,
why you have to be,
so fawningly sweet,
your brown subdued tone,
simple soul and shady tree,
hides this crowded boat,
no song of the sea,
only chants of make believe,
blinds our eyes to destiny,
who hasn't sorted bones,
this swarm of human seed,
given only what we know,
a terrible wound of territory,
borders and sunlit scrutiny,
breaks what's not retrieved,
these ships bear our home,
hands bear sullen greetings,
who will make it known,
how we sail to history ?

When you talk coastlines,
dance released in the rain,
who pays the fine,
smile in the mirror,
wait for a dismal train,
stand beside you and shiver,
you waste my time,
nearing home you say,
all words to me are lies,
proud of your honour,
an ubbridgable terrain,
you dismiss me the sinner,
but are you a child,
who suffers more than pain,
is belief your terrible why,
you ask who delivers,
Buster you're the highway,
I am the giver,
don't trouble me again.

Vicky
long days no blessing,
for drinkers and vagrants,
all others gone missing,
sunlight on the waves,
she rushes to this oasis,
ignoring tourist games,
an island is her mission,
where cruise ships lay,
she calls it deliverance,
hears the cies and hails,
beach people like wraiths,
dance around goldh caves,
besieged by other issues,
kids are not to blame,
she doesn't do kissing,
makes an unlit foray,
to convent's sweet gaze,
it's a gentle escape,
to touch ancient flame.

Do we ditch or burn,
a love like gas,
the dial turned down,
crack enough jokes,
so Ma won't collapse,
somehow she's bespoke
you won’t need an urn,
to see my ashes pas,
a lesson I've learned,
bars and broken homes,
my words get crass,
they never travel alone,
may you keep the flame,
now then hold me fast,
show me life's gamed,
if you’re on your own,
celebrate my best,
care for my bones,
remember me and laugh.

Isn't it good to know,
by travel gourds or wine,
when our brim fills up,
you may wonder,
what you dream to shine,
when what's fleeting gone,
do we resist such moaning,
figuring out the line,
dancing on the combing,
if you stand by water,
sun shining on my life,
it never reaches October,
in that luminous flow,
your lips are my guide,
how beautiful the load,
passion always binfs us,
long as birds are flown,
brighter in the darkness,
love always found.

A crescent moon at Winter,
I know what is to love,
but always be a sinner,
surrounded by icy streets,
I turn my face towards,
the freezing gentle sea,
if the cold light kills us,
my time is one of trouble,
dance to different drummers,
are they out of reach,
a friend holds a dove,
no matter what I preach,
across the dun lit hills,
my shadow's like a moth,
I ascend the rills,
a Catholic flame and keeper,
my Ma pines for summer,
but cannot get the reason,
why I act so tough.

Rae
at starboard he hails me,
I am his lady,
all there is to be,
hunted slant of the mast,
shadows dance on crates,
crescent moon at Christmas,
surrounded by auxiliaries
the radar blinks and wails,
lights blinks eratically,
wires ripples on their cast,
he's oh so wild and brave,
wven when danger's passed,
we're racing on the sea,
slamming through waves
wind hides my folded dreams,
please hold her fast,
what is there to save,
she's warm and snug at last,
I'm aching for a baby

Who brings the lie,
to a thirteen year old,
one difficult to deny,
smoking old cigarettes,
chasing paper folds,
they just don't get it,
how we carry the die,
the fear left untold;
all the reasons why.
a cloudy evening sets,
we are making bold,
release us this debt ,
shout up to the sky,
blow away our role,
no longer terrified,
anxious piroettes.
waiting for the scold.
never tell me yet,
love is all.

More than any laughter,
love seeps around her knees,
It isn't broken water,
inflated or in despair
can cry when she pleases,
life's never really fair,
what is not a slaughter,
compared to other release,
lets the blues sail upriver,
she stands without care,
relishes a sense of peace,
catch the green evening,
she's become her mother,
whatever that means,
hope is left within her,
she’ll never declare,
any joy without cease,
but do what's upto her,
just enjoy this scene.

Who will tend our bones,
how beautiful is rain,
it will wash the stones,
my arms around him twine
straining his body away.
limpid now the sunlight,
pink Lupins nod and fold,
their noses to the day,
birds never sing alone,
songs are a keening rhyme,
a skylark leads the way,
horses hold the fenceline,
July resists our clothes,
sweat runs down his face,
a tractor hugs the road,
our baby now is fine,
it rocks along the way,
the boy is nearly nine,
am happy for this roam,
brings us back to stay,
everything we call home,
sparkles like the hay.

Nora
How do I make this scene,
looking sweet on sherry.
a sourball to protect me,
off my face alone,
flushed with Dutch frippery,
wish i was going home,
mascara pushed up my sleeve,
eyes looking furtively,
looking for some release, ,
red and yellow phone's,
sing out a cigarette night,
Oh God leave me alone,
my greatest days to flee,
suddenly bear a why,
hope no one fancies me,
sit side by side consoled,
he's a boy off the tide,
asks why i chose this role,
at my next epiphany,
I won't't bother with sighs,
leave a note to territory,
just wave him goodbye.

Sat in the grey light,
my lover alongside me,
know everything's all right,
sunrise over the Rhone,
Cafe Coin serves good coffee,
a vista when we come,
warm clothes as sun fires,
trhe light above the trees,
we enjoin the coming sky,
salt cakes a global warning,
birds fly on earthly need,
rabbitts dance in the combing,
we sip the last of wine,
remains of an evening party,
no need for Turkish delight,
we'll return home,
go back by boat and sea,
the weather won’t be cold,
warm brown days pass by,
work and save diligently,
all that's best in life,
worth more than money.

We look at what remains,
carried to us by ferry,
a life she disdained,
can she hear our groans,
full of useless levies,
it would turn her bones,
thank those blessed days,
neither warm nor easy,
when a life burned flame,
the manner of her tone,
flowed on other tributaries,
it won't leave us alone,
more a silken trail,
spun on a wooden rosary,
from her morning frame,
a promise to condone,
every generous actuary
money given not a loan,
as we catch the train,
across the morning estuary,
she’d never contemplate,
our face of misery.

It’s hard to measure distance,
looking down a bottle of beer,
what you think is crystal,
the tremble in your bones,
a river washes clear, a time to be explored,
will he be coming home,
talks we had last winter,
hawks hunt on the weir,
don't make me bitter,
fast tides on the roll,
are you my lover freer
somewhere close but alone,
when I say it’s finished,
heart and eyes in tears,
please don't ask penance,
in your faded clothes.
silver cups my ears,
a memory in each zone,
your eyes like an infant
a trapeze of wasted years,,
I record such fastness,
all for listing fear

There's times I wish,
I’ve waited so long,
on this wretched bridge,
my taxi’s long gone,
now leave me alone,
I’m not twenty one,
what makes you think,
don’t know what I’m doing,
getting jealous in drink,
splash on more Cologne,
who wants to smell cold,
strung on these folds,
let the moon blink,
my ship's coming home,
sick and tired of shrinks,
smear red lipstick on,
an unsteady sojourn,
really no one's fault,
remain majestic and fit,
sweet as my best song,
ice cream for this trip,
nice and strong.

Do we think of others,
screaming down the phone,
a cross borne for mothers,
pray for all of those,
whose thoughts lay blown,
across forgotten summers, '
a cornfield smothers,
the dance we do alone,
men flit amongst us,
we can only suppose,
by water and blue clothes,
what they want to echo,
our days fill with lovers,
buckets we take home,
throwing dice at trouble,
our hands a level force,
more than we ever know,
a river runs its course,
in the valley below.

The poetes mauvais,
he hates to gloom,
are they made of clay,
these are their bones,
in place of his blood,
each time he's alone,
has gone back to slay,
an old unwritten rule,
promised him every day,
evening fades the Domes,
traces this lonely fruit,
he faces night alone,
aching for a child I say,
what we have to do,
ie seize time anyway,
birdsong early morning,
it's a poor fool,
to ignore their warning,
maybe I have to state,
they hold onto you,
get them out the way,
give life our due.

Who removes the cast,
only children think of home,
across thhis singing pass,
in the CafĂ©’ du Surpris,
they can hear my woes,
ask for my spirit's release,
Puccini ons the terrace,
Campari , dark glasses, soda,
my visits here don't last,
Why deny this present need,
shield me from the Ghosts,
come here only for release,
like my Goddess Callas,
I sing before I moan,
Sourballs ease my pallett,
sea birds screech and wheel,
cliff nests honeycombe,
I look again to sea,
this place I come from.

Old men who need women,
eat calf’s liver and greens,
something clings to them,
the pity of night groans,
a cool breeze seizes,
the dread of being alone,
worried they appear timid,
that skin clings to bones,
their desires know no limit,
want to make ladies glow,
bestow love every evening,
bars are their only show,
cognac turns breath bitter,
even a prosthetic gleam,
btings no disco glisten,
beneath the idle boasts,
know what Goya has seen,
richer softer pillows,
wine bread falling leaves.

Don’t look at me and pause,
give one of those sighs,
heard these tales before,
this is my home now,
not your interesting life,
God you’re slow,
while you spout good causes,
I'm barely alive,
in conditional clauses,
please stop your moans,
at wife number five,
gush like water flows,
outside a church door,
Is this where you die,
you want me to follow,
hear this I won’t,
despite the way you try,
who needs your comfort,
on this sun kissed cove,
my skin grows alive,
such was my life before,
praying for a tide.

Being an ice cold Diva,
makes no sense to me,
when she sings Ave Maria,
high tragic in cheek bones,
her voice an ocean deep,
what resource she's shown,
her laugh is for dreamers,
like sunshine on the beach,
yet hard as clam coquima,
love she gave to lovers,
to seamen and Cafe's,
is far away as ever,
in stances of believers,
she is her own obituary,
each morning retrieved,
but no one lives alone,
shes doesn't fool me,
praying for her soul,
before a cup of tea.

You stroll off the meter,
but you don't see me,
dressed for the theatre,
apply polish to fingers,
at the Salon du Te,',
ignore a flic whisper,
discuss places to meet,
sip Darjeeling,
turn high on your heels,
guaranteed to linger,
your blonde hair conceals,
an invisible surrender,
all of those parties,
you give by the sea,
hides desperate catharsis,
do waves rise in rhythm,
at your command and greet,
your once coveted rayon,
down our street.

The weekend sings,
when everyone can hear me,
on my silent wings,
stars pour thru my bones,
can everybody see,
my songs all of home,
the yellow light of Spring,
brings my fresh dreams,
they sure make me feel,
sometimes when I groan,
mind shallow as Disney,
the beach is stony hollow,
but now to better things,
I sail upon the sea,
hot sun on my jeans,
I rein my bitter tones,
look forward to be happy,
embrace summer flings,
am a girl that's funny.

You laugh like you rule,
but it’s not the heat,
deserts don’t trust fools,
you can’t explain,
why oases lose their sheen,
that you should bother again,
you’d say that these mules,
forever miss their beat,
looking at hopeless ruins,
poverty yellow and grey,
doesn't come with sun screen,
you're protected anyway,
you are like all of us ,
when brown and seventeen,
sweet and bitter as almonds,
instead you conjure a train,
turn your head serene ,
look away from our gaze,
smell the salt sea.

Am pretty sure where to go,
a sail around your knees,
a tattered sheepdog show,
birds cling to the cranes,
passion doesn't need me,
it never comes on holiday,
your lover sings her woes,
she makes me feel uneasy,
I’m not the best you know,
try to keep you sane,
when orange lights the sea,
all your furies contained,
count the cost of war,
a sense of honest liberty,
it's best not to caw,
sad but truly said,
you'd never fight for me,
luck never comes in spades
set our spirits free .
Xena
Was it worth that night alone,
a lighthouse shading beach,
sardines boats on their own,
at the quayside mornihg cafĂ©’,
I smell rain and sea,
warm against the beams,
will you view the foam ,
I call for more tea,
my eyes fill with stone,
I'd like to dance and dream,
but my opacity,
spins me like spinning,
i press myself to the bone,
above my pressed dungarees,
if I saw you coming home,
what we should really see,
always within gentle reach,
inside a starlit breesze
is to remain happy?
