One Oh Ten

Some nights i ask why, we can ever atone, stars shine out like fire, might as well be shame, our time in lousy homes, still that far from fame, you gaze within my sight, the wind runs cold, you're gone another time, are kids and dogs your game, then why get stoned, just keep sane, when you hear me cry, don’t leave a hanging phone, it's not enough to sigh, buy some rusty nails, get those jobs done, a house is not a jail, no matter how we fight, or strain our yellow bones, we can do this right, outside the credit zones.

One Oh Nine

Pillows furl beneath the sky, death brings no easy due, even when you lie, who cares what is fake, it comes for you too, even if not to taste something deep inside, not just an ordinary blue, makes you want to scythe, those barriers you make, they say look you fool, who are you to ordinate, however hard you try, love is not immune, don't tell them to apply, dying's when you castigate, something outside of you, whenever you walk away, these troubled nights, that bring bad news, ask a hundred questions why, as if you knew.

One Oh Eight

In the Summer light, you look over the poor, huddled by the security line, it's hot for the season, sons and daughters, share the same freedom, out on the dusty side, a bitter truth’s born, don't need an inquiry, to walk up the gully, lights over the border, sick of being, worry about time, if you'll be caught, in some policy drive, it gives a reason, to head for the slaughter, like a guilty plea, every walk of life, ends here comported, some bring their family, there's only one door.

One Oh Seven

Is it love of rain, or a blown out tyre, that you lean against, shuffling in the gloom, listening to the criers, no one jumps for you, if its a problem look away, they pester you for hire, it's never easy or brave, to do what you do, your eyes seek some tide, it is never blue, an offering to the saved, like an old fish wire, is this what you gave, whispering for someone's due, here's my coat to lie in, my song rings true, it's not defiled by drains, nor the tongue of a liar, the miracle I crave, lies waiting for the pyre.

One Oh Six

We'll let you know, how people up here feel, almost in their bones, that jilted smile's a strain, smothered in this territory, they'll see it anyway, take your time right now, those night's without a key, the river always flows, why not meet the rain, peer in mountain streams, don't have to catch a train, nothing to bestow, like those other crazy schemes, life's no picture show, you’re a long time away, to live within a dream, now face each coming day, you don't have to borrow, to see how you've been, stay and warm your toes, nothing's how it seems.

One Oh five

You scatter my beliefs, like ashes from a car, say it brings serenity, blowout all my pay, what is going on, it's a terrible waste, clinging to the sea, like someone in a bottle, will others set you free, it's a different age, think i'm pretty smart, but still hesitate, it doesn't fill my need, this warm hazy fog, a path from childhood dreams, dancing on the waves, all the stuff you're not, lands among the wreckage, cigarettes aren't good for me, they just leave a scar, holy water in my drink, did you know my Ma ?

One Oh Four

When bells ring out the night, she will make her mark, like a song beseeches why, the land’s within sight, a warm embrace by dark, give me your sweet sign, dusk falls in green light, our lives leap near Trinity Bar, say you won’t be split, when Americans fight, hold lovers in their cars, on mountain bykes, a dancer whose fame decides, is the prize too far, on many a famous night, like a scene of pure delight, a smoky voice in estuary tar, gleams like a searchlight, she never leaves a family’s side, but sings like a Lark, a woman who knows her rights, she's the lucky star.
