Stevie
Don't pray in the rain,
or swear upon your ma,
stuff you can't fake,
hopes you won’t use,
smother what it costs ,
places without refuge,
see that portrait,
of you wounded and lost,
JOHN it’s got your name,
whatever you choose,
don't shout blah,
whoever pays the dues,
whisky fires the brain,
souls live without trouble,
you won’t run away,
nor brook a dawn curfew,
force the door ajar,
despite golden avenues,
gains that you'll make,
make without scars,
true spirits of the highway,
travel without cars.

If I warm my toes,
around your fire,
can’t deny what I know,
that what I choose,
for many a lie,
is lost on my excuses,
a chance to show,
on dancing wires,
how much I can grow,
I’m not the fool,
who plays for time,
running with news,
more than here and now,
I’ll make what’s right,
by these holy vows,
my blood's smoky blue,
don’t need you to enquire,
if t’s good,
I'm not undersold,
don't need a sign,
to live without windows,
pour me that wine.

Your eyes always chase,
places where no one goes,
champagne cognac too late,
forget how much we blew,
kill the need to know,
steer away from news,
we’re always on the game,
paying off the loan,
we’ll tackle what remains,
you never seem to rue,
the way we’ve been let down,
say it’s part of you,
why worry about the gain,
at supper hide our groans,
whistle off our pain,
say it’s all a ruse,
a dream of yesterday,
being part of a crew,
wouldn't it be great,
to stay on the road,
throw out all the hate,
watch it go.
Jenny
Fire and evening light,
when you play my tune,
I always cry,
hanging on my phone,
it rings with blues,
I hear your lovely tones,
this beach has come to life,
the white sand soothes,
away from Freeway tyres,
bring grace to our home,
accept all we do,
even atone,
this return to paradise,
will never make the news,
frees us from all strife,
to gather what has gone,
somewhere we can glue,
isolate but not alone,
you’re always nice,
never hide what’s true,
skip in this warm tide,
what it is to lose.

Why hang around the mall,
sit down in the rain,
hover at infirmary's door,
you are never home,
always the same,
stuff makes you roam,
what am I saying this for,
there’s nothing to gain,
while you dance with whores,
can't you atone,
smooth away my pain,
I'm not on loan,
you know the score,
my face a savage shade,
I’m praying I don’t roar,
I never want to moan,
say this time it’s too late,
spit on the floor,
cry out your name,
you’re not needed anymore,
face myself again
love's too raw
Cathy Two
Happy songs in my car,
funds still in the bank,
the trail leaves no mark,
blown in on the bay,
a ticking of the crank,
does it have to be this way,
I peer within your bars,
even sunshine's dank,
scatter ashes in the dark,
what is there to say,
my mind fills up blank,
clings to a brighter day,
Oh, you are a dog,
no one else to thank,
rolled me like a log,
brought me to this state,
let me be frank,
there’s plenty left anyway,
you’ll never know how far,
what goes down the track,
can see what's going on,
gas still in my tank.

Cathy
Sometimes I ask why,
can we ever atone,
our eyes on fire,
it could be shame,
that lights our home,
each night and every day,
not given foresight,
the wind blows cold,
you make another line,
kids that bear your name,
you let roam,
are you insane,
when you hear me cry,
don’t leave a hanging phone,
it's not enough to sigh,
buy some shiny nails,
help me with the loans,
this house is not a jail,
no matter how we fight,
or bruise our callow bones,
let’s do this right,
don’t act gone.
