Martina
Is this really the place,
to ask the reason why,
my love is ruined,
the haze of loss and show,
beats out lonely time,
nowhere else to go,
soaked on the Spanish main,
desolate in my cry,
I never try to calculate,
what I need to know,
no longer beat the sky,
wooden box or one-way crow,
when I jump the rail,
boxcar irons safe to climb,
forget the spikes of jail,
my lips won’t go,
near this sweetheart’s tie,
or witness gentle sorrow,
no easy way to fake,
what hurts me deep inside,
take it to my grave,
eyes open wide.

Do you think when beat,
perhaps sing a common air,
I can rescue everything,
if love’s the frame,
heaven’s my place to share,
I have my good name,
when in depths of need,
I’ll be taking care,
it's not easy being free,
getting there’s the game,
trousers full of tears,
even up the lane,
I know how to keep,
a wooden face in every lair,
drink’s my sole conceit,
everything else I can tame,
pass hours on hard chairs,
even wrapped in chains,
will everyone see,
the gaps between my hair,
eyes lit up like kerosene,
my dreams elsewhere?

You say get a grip,
when I fail down below,
another momentary slip,
I don't need drugs to pray,
sooth my bones,
my quest to get away,
dreamers have surly lips,
manacles of wretched homes,
others take a coin and flip,
easy jokes and spirits flay,
across 49 different time zones,
everything we gain,
drowns in a headlight dip,
in consumptive hollows,
take another nip,
won’t know how I stay,
if I can dump this ‘phone,
when faith is a getaway,
I’ll make this trip,
the wind will moan,
nail me to a coffin ship,
c'mon baby let’s go

Your kisses leave me,
shivering on the train,
silver tongues bereft of family,
the wailed news,
lies dead across my face,
more jelly than the blues,
who knows what to believe,
the falling rain ,
is a blessed relief,
it will bring the crew,
to these shifting gates,
that always tell the truth,
a swollen handkerchief,
a stillborn fate,
a star across the sea,
it’s so cruel,
how hard life can be,
before sunset glooms,
where tears can't reach,
a soul astray,
don't spoil my dreams,
I’m on my way.
Sean
You’re like sugared tea,
tears are lachrymose,
jokes your repartee,
might have once been so,
you suppose,
never one to moan,
the wind starts to ease,
you’ll ride out the blow,
replace it with certainty,
the moon suits your tone,
you'd never agree,
doors needs to close,
here by the sea,
why bother to roam,
when you can believe,
dreams are best at home,
the kid’s are all fine,
you drink alone,
when their mother leaves,
best change your clothes,
huff to the lavatory,
shift twenty stone.

Will I stay the same,
beneath the trees,
each time we separate,
remember the times,
we drank in the heat,
sat drinking wine,
now a morning drain,
it's not just our feet,
in this tired game,
believe me, I'm fine,
I dream of the sea,
to me it's the sky,
what does it take,
with my dawn novena,
to see you again,
smile like a hurricane,
fix you something to eat,
watch you hesitate,
why can’t you remain,
the sun sinks uneven,
cars fill up their lanes,
wait until she’s been?

Raith Three
It's been some time.
but there you go,
others wait in line,
when donkeys start to bray,
or the cock crows,
I'll have my say,
no need to bind,
what you don’t own,
on boardwalk miles,
a star shows the way,
frozen in my clothes,
this is no holiday,
kid you I don't mind,
it’s just another show,
drink a little wine,
stay here and say,
wrapped up in the snow,
I’ll sing the night away,
raid s skip for fire,
don’t worry or scold,
my face bears a smile,
it runs through my bones.
