Sixty Six
You'd scream would you,
when she demands another loan,
talks of her bad news,
sunlight,water,sky,
lit like some ocean boom,
God knows you're right,
she walks down the avenue,
her daisy head is blown,
she plays us lemon blue,
spinning pennies in the night,
we try to break curfew,
leave out all the fights,
when she cries for truth,
we know she's not alone,
can't be assed to argue,
what's worse is the silence,
all that's gone to ruin,
me, my wife, our lives,
before asking for her due,
this girl reveals our bones,
leaves us here to stew,
she's never coming home.
