Please don't make me sign,
fading stars are nothing new,
between the moon and sky,
I enjoy being hailed,
instead of merely duped,
within a sea of nails,
don’t say it's all right,
to flush money down sewers,
better give arsenic a try,
is it my night sails,
my song that surrounds you,
breathe sweetly my oblate,
you’ll soon face the tides,
lost suddenly from view,
when you’re up this high,
it’s not me you persuade,
like other fools,
laughter turns them crude,
velvet dreams by night,
they certify my dues,
range this ocean wide,
brings me back to you.

Wouldn't it be great,
to dance on fallen snow,
say Christmas is here again,
sadly it's not a ruse,
a famous night that’s gone,
what we've got to lose,
don't worry about gain,
at supper ask for bones,
they will find us grain,
forget it is our due,
dispense a need for show,
serve our party gruel,
we’ll always walk in grace,
spit upon the loans,
consider what remains,
we can never choose,
when we’re up or down,
how we burn our fuel,
only here to celebrate,
deeds where loving grows,
champagne cognac don't be late,
will we ever know ?

My vision arrives too late,
it's not easy to believe,
what it has to say,
rolling within my thunder,
exploded like a tree,
lost in moans to numbers,
you'll find out one day,
when you see me keep,
plans you’d thrown away,
my mind's without clutter,
I hardly need to screech,
what is love from you,
won’t stand in your way,
fix your cowards retreat,
know its for your fate,
it makes me wonder,
births, marriage,wreaths,
who splits who asunder,
memories of your face,
are so easy to read,
poetry of futile names,
am glad to be free.

Elly
Smouldering like a star,
chasing numbers,
leaving doors ajar,
she's a different calendar
her boss says 'i wonder',
isn't that a great heart,
then she buys a car,
makes it her trouble,
it won't go far,
right from the off,
bewildered,
her tears flood the bar,
ten years later,
we still hear her laughter,
she doesn't do parts,
now from a false start.
surrendered,
her lipstick stark,
love always hungers.

Davina
In a supermarket yard,
her lovely face washed,
by rain and river salt,
dressed always decent,
her trolley for a brush,
she looks at their blankets,
lost spirits without spark,
they lie here to rest,
it's a rare clerk,
who won't get upset,
put to the test,
pitying their tents,
life here is stark,
in ways that they forage,
then rage like storks,
think only of the present,
tear at their crusts,
make out for the best,
last in some chart,
if life is a sequence,
she gives them her heart,
stops for the vagrants.
Charlie
Sometimes in this place,
you just don't know,
if you’ll make it,
the same with those,
who never show,
they don't understand,
if there's time to pray,
give me a blow,
while others turn up late,
how they break my bones,
do they know,
no one gets by alone,
I really need to state,
sunlight comes with stones,
life is not a holiday,
this café trade is slow,
red wine’s not to waste,
a crowded bar atones,
it’s a happy day,
listening to a jazz solo,
cigarettes to taste,
an atmosphere of home.

By the garden door,
of Saint Phillip Neri,
she sees the poor,
they cross Catherine Street,
need in their eyes,
linen unclean,
the soul of lost hordes,
someone asks why,
they slouch as they walk,
who needs pity,
when pity is sly,
dances at the beggar's party,
all of them caught,
there'll be no inquiry,
when truth is sought,
perish the guilty,
each part of their lives,
is fractured then buried,
makes a perfect nought,
a crime to identify,
the troubled and lost,
between moon and sky ?

Do you remember the sea,
the swell and the spray,
our dance of Thebes,
now the kids have flown,
gone away,
they look after their own,
we walk on the beach,
at the end of the day,
all our loving sweeps,
each part of our home,
suddenly drained,
find we're alone,
you grab my sleeve,
pull me close and say,
let's go back East,
by the wind brown coast,
I hold your face,
smell your Cologne,
to catch horizons like these,
sets me off to pray,
buy me ice cream,
celebrate our days.

Your house beyond the dunes,
sea roses beneath the sky,
picket fences ease your ruin,
a life that's been great,
absence poems always cry,
sing sweeter than the prostrate,
even God is not immune,
he puts your love aside,
some things can't be duped,
fire burns in the grate,
don't tell me how you lied,
smoke rises it gets late,
is it me or the blues,
dying in the tide,
can't you see you fool,
no voice makes me salivate,
eves hanging out to dry,
being near your fire place,
they ask how are you,
pilloried troubles slight,
what a dancing troupe,
drapes their disguise.

He has such giving ways,
brings me Bollinger,
on Christmas Day,
what can we do alone,
without relinqhuishing,
circumstances of our own,
wine pours down my face,
it’s like a Christening,
he cuts the Angel cake,
are we here or gone,
he hasn't got a pot to piss in,
we laugh at the unknown,
choose to live or chase,
summon our lives as witness,
called upon to pray,
we stumble down the road,
rattle chains from the sea,
taste to test our resolve,
my greatest days,
come when not scared witless,
huge hours to celebrate,
our restless spirits.

Who hasn't thought,
alone and perplexed,
worrying about nought,
take a drink of wine,
burdens of what's next,
Birthdays,Christmas, Valentines,
other stuff we’ve bought,
anger of the vexed,
tell us what’s the score,
men beseech Online,
act as though belessed,
demanding of our time,
generally divorced,
wearing festival vests,
drunk or overwrought,
firmly hold the line,
aren't these dating tests,
supposed to be confined,
lost at the Mall,
staring at the rest,
who will give a call,
take me to the crest ?

The year Lady passed away,
I couldn't shift the blues,
sunk deeper day by day,
hated to be alone,
see anyone new,
on the street or Metro,
but you came with angels,
I didn't have a clue,
how to deal with rage,
you arranged the loans,
got me out the stew,
put jelly on my bones,
before she lost the game,
I thought about her due,
all she created,
then I started to drone,
couldn't eat or cook,
everything looked done,
now your tune resonates,
sings in all I do,
dances in the daylight,
so many thank yous.

Verity
When I scream 'screw you',
it's never really right
so much more to lose,
do all Chefs die intestate,
however much they lie,
spitting venom torn by rage,
explosive eulogies at menus,
owners face a terrible might,
horrified kitchen crews,
howl around this place,
numero uno starts to cry,
anchors bind his feet,
can anyone tell the truth,
doubts roll from my eyes,
no longer am I duped,
wouldn't it be great,
to feel such love inside,
all we have is plates,
a cottage beyond the dunes,
striped canvas near the tide,
will it bear me fruit ,
some would wonder why?

I paint like Marcel Duchamp,
and walk with weary gait,
smell my cologne it's damp,
bring cognac to my table,
send dishes by measured plate,
feed my tiny frame,
I'm not someone you look upon,
swaying like a knave,
singing what I’ve done,
unshaven waiters,
in this pavement cafe',
often watch me faint,
men before me unmoved,
buttered hair in trains,
mutter of how I look,
creating in an unlit space,
art a lonely place,
betrayed by certain names,
carried along by absence,
who dismiss my fame,
look at me askance,
I rise above shame.

Windows paint strokes,
startled by falling rain,
shocked again I'm broke,
skies shadow an empty beach,
another bum holiday,
brings no news to me,
I used to be all aglow,
does love bring clemency,
when you need a loan,
songs of that dismal cheat,
echo lonely trains,
why am I here please,
they whistle and moan,
to begin again,
am I that far gone,
death shifts on plates,
or down the Freeway,
he is not my mate,
marks my bones,
makes me cold as slate,
circles my zones,
I've a generous reach,
everyone says,
and on the beat,
when someone pays

When you see a fading star,
does it make you weep,
knowing it’s gone so far,
with children and dogs,
can't I just keep,
to a warm hazy fog,
send space ships to Mars,
please let me be,
don't need fancy cars,
that's not what i want,
only certain release,
from the stuff you don't,
I'm like someone from afar,
a spectre on bended knee,
scraping at my scars,
put water in my font,
may all your prayers increase,
tell me what's going on,
play Blues in a boxcar,
scatter all my needs,
be tranqil at the bar,
bring me peace.

You appear gone,
your picture up in lights,
glued to a wall.
if love holds true,
you know what I'm like,
because I'm part of you,
tell me you're still alone,
no matter how we fight,
crack our yellow bones,
we are not for fools,
dead before our time,
won't heed any blues,
you scream down a ‘phone,
roll some fancy dice,
flame into song,
for all your reviews,
dreams pass from sight,
blow a stark truth,
ride black and bold,
across a winter sky,
you sing less to atone,
chanting to the fire?

Working here's no paradise,
it only takes two,
to see our spikes,
we could be great stars,
make the sea like glue,
stardust as we part,
all it needs is better light,
show what we can do,
assist us on our flight,
our songs still resonate,
hung on trees turning blue,
gone to a better place,
this cafe' is our life,
dances for me and you,
even as a transport pike,
doesn’t matter how late,
we sing our kitchen tunes,
just give us that break,
play to easy nights,
where we catch what’s new,
see the way we slide,
well outside the loop.

Patsy
Since you've been away,
I don't know what to do,
but each night pray,
break my maddened stone,
just do it will you,
no one’s still at home,
keep the time of day,
cold skyline makes it true,
nothing more to say,
you always need to smoke,
somehow play the fool,
laugh like someone gone,
the walls have turned grey,
whisky is not my ruin,
you've eaten all the cake,
confined within this zone,
there’s little more to do,
gilded like an only one,
we sing the joy of praise,
see the creep of moon,
will you come back again,
take me as your due.

They say up your game,
you lazy sycophants,
less suffer what remains,
listening to the old songs,
who would ever lance,
such need to belong,
watching the trains,
snake down a naked gap,
sails in the bay,
swells of crowded bars,
cargo ships and shining paths,
rooms with dark marks,
red lips white-faced,
we start again to dance,
willing our tunes to play,
better to rumble along,
echoing holy chants,
say we’re not wrong,
before night's out today,
we'll polish unlit lamps,
take what comes our way,
maintain our balance.

Nancy
She's light across tears,
shares jokes in the dust,
then disappears,
we knew her from jail,
a speaker for the just,
love never fails,
what brought her here,
in the lilac dusk,
no one's very clear,
ice blue on the rails,
travels till she's bust,
she's tough as nails,
no one can get near,
a flame that never shuts,
they know what to fear,
cast aside parrot phrases,
perfume echoes the dusk.
her eyes ablaze,
she haunts me like the deer,
I did what I could,
smiling she appears,
a face misunderstood.

Maria
Aked to ferment desire,
in a place without windows,
trees surrounded by wire,
I descend by mountain mule,
to warm my toes,
used to playing it cool,
a young woman without child,
love free to bestow,
it's been a while,
his cabin is smoky blue,
my smiles won’t allow,
what our ancestors refused,
logs blaze a midnight choir,
more to life than show,
they're hard roads to fire,
I trace his arms for sinews,
chance to get to know;
my own rinse of perfume,
it’s in his dancing eyes,
do I hurt him with NO,
maybe bring in line,
more to joy than sorrow.

Once I thought I knew,
how life's so short,
what can beat the Blues,
in this winter night,
when the kids don’t phone,
the fire gives no respite,
no books or other dues,
traces where they go,
on trails so well used,
who knows if they're right,
those who you fought,
others who asked for hire,
you were never so cool,
helped the ones you taught,
belong to other schools,
if there’s ever a time,
to parade passing thoughts,
let them shed light,
forget all the doo doo,
don't have me postpose,
happiness hung on balloons,
blown far from home

Why pay a heavy score,
my almond eyes ruined,
show you love is raw,
can you see my bones,
feel like a heavy boom,
attached to useless love,
life is not so poor,
when you have a shoe in,
escape broken laws,
say you're leaving home,
want somewhere safe to room,
until my fumings done,
don't divine me by whores,
forget the stuff you do,
I scream it’s because,
I'll block your phone,
why live out of tune,
shout go on get lost,
break holy orders,
drain summer out the moon,
I can't bear your snores,
with me anytime soon.

Journee
I'm facing terrible shame,
no star could refute,
betrayed by outrageous fame,
you might wonder why,
they speak of godly virtue,
those who know their rights,
this is no mug's game,
the TV blares fake news,
it squashes everything,
I tell terrible lies,
fashion my golden hoops,
beats any crass disguise,
sunshine shows the way,
what is there to rue,
hit them while they faint,
only fools really try,
I am only like you,
tired of such butterflies,
better shed the blame,
put it down to doom,
drink easy just the same,
eyes glazed as fish glue.

We're not your drip,
within a big sea,
the yellow light bid,
what about your lover,
with all her surly needs,
does she have your number,
what you need to live,
alongside your greed,
money can'tmint,
is the edge of wonder,
your grant of disbelief,
makes you flounder,
painted stones pieces of drift,
lay at your feet,
now you've been tripped,
a slave encumbered,
lifetime of tumbleweed,
instead of sweet slumber,
you leave us in sin,
a life gone to seed,
but we won't give in.
are more than need.

What you call consistent,
remains on the shingle,
swallows all resistance,
searching for the sea,
sometimes in the tingle,
washing blue rinsed sheets,
if you feel listless,
try your stock of jingles,
in things that you miss,
your quotation of pieces,
do your best to jangle,
away on the breeze,
when you stand legless,
each time with the dangle,
face windswept promises,
never take the easy,
forego any ring,
its bright coloured dish,
a sunlit vista,
beyond being single,
it can't beat the hit,
knowing how to mingle

Gianna
Your star is coming home,
it trails a police light,
in gardens, you lie prone,
whisper your love,
on throwaway nights,
your ravaged face a moon,
like saints expose their bones,
a song gets you tight,
makes you drink alone,
a balcony bright with doves,
a learned moan cried,
you pray to those above,
fresh linen and eau de cologne,
always makes them sigh,
for those who are gone,
you see every move,
millions live and die,
some of them in blood,
luminous as a frozen stone,
you stand to one side,
let the ghosts pass through,
they all know why.

Ferdy
What might have been,
does not always square,
for a life tranquil,
don't sing me the blues,
you’re not that aware,
to hide away from virtue,
blowing like steam,
your nostrils flare,
eyes a silent scream,
tell me the truth,
is my voice so slurred,
who needs more proof,
I drink every evenings,
would you care,
when I say I'm beat,
look at me you fool,
is it my hair,
what do I need ro do,
can you hear the sea,,
wwill you take me there,
Its where i want to be,
are you scared?

I don't need a shrink,
tell my lover go away,
give me time to think,
what I might disown,
like a butchers display,
is sight of his bones,
I know what you're thinking,
you don't need to say,
his house is a sink,
a letter from home,
says come on love pray,
hostage only rules sorrow,
I teeter on the brink,
though whole winter's days,
slipping on an ice rink,
the stuff that I down,
trying to mitigate,
would make a Jock blink,
i'm not playing for kicks,
the surface of my rege,
is no easy trick,
my foot's on his tail.

Signs we fly away from,
some place before sunset,
submerged flowers gone,
our associate’s due,
bringing his astonishing jet,
hear whispered thank yous,
fire and distant thunder,
greet our target,
the unfettered amongst us,
beyond this daily cruise,
our days get frit,
fighting over what to do,
wash ourselves and wonder,
no matter what the bet,
somone always goes under,
how the world snoozes,
untangling our little knot,
night cools a morning slew,
we know who's split asunder,
in our lives of yet,
we think of the bonds,
paying off the debt.

A cold wind blows,
it stokes my fear,
who remains at home,
snow doves arch above,
the sky is needle clear,
so far away from love,
give money for his clothes,
everything’s so dear,
there are no bad notes,
ski with those who live,
laughing ups the gear,
choose who always will,
my vision's very slow,
whenever it's unclear
know we are never alone,
thrown across the slips,
worry who comes near,
those you'll never hit,
wear long coats to show,
winter's only once a year,
try to reach our saoul,
shiny frozen tears.

Your smile lets you prance,
no fear of being sought,
by smart tongued chit chat,
let all the bean counters,
show you the course,
you look good turn around,
live what is chanced,
sing yourself hoarse,
accept praise of your balance,
discard those who rant,
if they make you taut,
forget all the glib answers,
hold your nerve and ask,
why they're so fraught,
sip whisky from a flask,
regret missed chances,
work out the score,
bury failure in the ground,
you'll always dance,
unlike many caught,
won't look askance,
at those who are frozen.

God knows if they're right,
that he will try anything,
sunlight, water, sky,
like the tide off Burbo Bank,
his smile is estuary wide,
begins where I'm back,
he never leaves my side,
but sits here and sings,
like someone on fire,
his lungs are like tanks,
he bellows take everything,
could prise open a bank,
next to him i slide,
his lips twist sugary,
sweetened by constant lies,
tobacco blonde eyes cranked,
a dancer whose fame decides,
to walk tall and swank,
I dance in the tide,
my day is just beginning,
no obe sees me sigh,
fresh, alive, giving.

Times that brought her,
yellow nights of feasting,
she dreams of summer,
let others condone,
that passing disease,
leaving of a broken home,
more than any daughter,
she'll do what's needed,
forging her own laughter,
like a polished stone,
she stands by the sea,
understands hurricane zones,
love seeps on the air,
it reaches her knees,
she breasts the water,
for matters gone,
she knows what to believes,
welcomes the dawn,
nourished by prayer,
she cries when released,
someone to care,
it isn't that easy.

She laughs and hums a tune,
says it’s stupid to lie,
it’s just what we do,
we stroll around the garden,
she gives another sigh,
grandkids are late home,
it's like a whispered ooh,
she stumbles in plain sight,
drink fills the afternoon,
what makes the same hollow,
a broken cry,
she thinks of those below,
says don’t ask for truth,
it's like the night,
someone's always ruined,
she’s not one for show,
not since 1965,
says they rolled that blow,
gently sipping Vermouth,
voices come from on high
men tell all they knew,
she really did fly.

Brilliant stones,
whisper your name,
shining waters groan,
in trouble you heed,
find solace each day,
soon you'll feel,
you are never alone,
dance all their games,
beat out the moans,
protect every sea,
don't let panic reign,
fishermen tend creels,
Calcium is for bones,
rely upon staying sane,
no one really atones,
birds who drop seed,
sing only for fame,
before a flower bleeds,
sing a fiery contralto,
weave amongst flames,
give everything you own,
follow him this way.

Time jingles and sings,
my insides screech,
I need another drink,
between home and missing you,
help me to frame,
what I need to do,
your smile shrinks,
lemon blue by the sea,
makes me stop and think,
why kill the truth,
ditch my own conceit,
a conscience keep in ruin,
in another blink,
so eager to squeeze, memories,
thought you were a king,
they echo my blues,
why make a coward's retreat,
no dreams to rue,
wait here's a chink,
my stars scattered easy,
fly away before i sink,
you won't sleep easy.

Verity
Make offers out of pity,
nothing by eternal grace,
absolves my swollen feet,
betrayed in my moans,
I wander about this place,
thumpong heart against bone,
there is no churning story,
blown in on the rain,
for me to do solitary,
alone at some grotto,
I still see his face,
why ask me to atone,
slay all my mystery,
given holy days,
what price is offertory,
my sad jokes tell me,
fools play useless games,
he's still here beside me,
I don't plan to deceive,
use ribbons as a piety,
who would believe,
I asked him to stay ?

My good parts,
I can firmly state,
belong with the Arc,
I look at the moon,
a spring tide today,
everything comes too soon,
my eyes dart,
wouldn't it be great,
to make a new start,
live somewhere cool,
my tickets ready but wait,
can't take more bad news,
a psychiatrist a star,
says emotion's only a name,
I'll sell my car,
will take the other route,
smile before I hesitate,
a kiss before curfew,
no one tears me apart,
tides bear me away,
I'm too smart,
to wait for days.

Why live in a haze,
fight battles with the wind,
mends cuts with cellophane,
best not to moan,
burn to fit in,
life is only a loan,
when you buck the grain,
scour the earth's rim ,
find a perfect bargain,
wear your worn-out clothes,
don't pick up the Gin,
you're not on your bones,
make a step change,
think what you'll win,
find love instead of trade,
if someone groans,
says they're not trim,
get out of that zone,
unbroken by chains,
let your dreams skim,
uncertain days,
fly as a legend.

Do you call consistent,
remain being single,
swallows all resistance,
searching for the breeze,
sometimes the tingle,
across a dark estuary,
can you hear the listless,
parade their jingles,
stuff you'd never miss,
a quotation of pieces,
bourne up to to jangle,
far over the sea,
standing here faceless,
wide eyed on the shingle,
make a wind-lashed promise,
you'll remain easy,
outside of this ring,
retain all your sweetness,
turn a moonlit vigil,
to some lovely thing,
beyond tides and criminals,
here in your kiss.

Drunk enough to ask why,
accept you've been chosen,
before anyone can deny,
don't fall for other's crazes,
what they try to provoke,
avoid stupid phrases,
sing instead of favourite tines,
love goes by unspoken,
accept heaven's angel cry,
outside of all the praises,
neither shrink away nor soak,
celebrate wonderful days,
be at the grave in line,
verify love's cloaking,
let clouds sail the sky,
the settlement of your face,
quietens even colder bones,
shoulder then his traces,
a flower at your side,
softer than a wonderful man,
more than any pride,
just some little token.

Don't fall for anyone's Blues,
singing on the wire,
you are more than dues,
life isn't a stone,
thrown into the fire.
why should you atone,
whoever brings you news,
ask who’s for hire,
search your own truth,
a philosopher to your bones,
don't poison your desires,
find your happy home,
read every book,
everything that's required,
see nothing's overlooked,
your little choice of ruin,
is there on the side,
accept lovers their looks,
present each piece of you,
if anyone inquires,
it's what makes you cool,
how you inspire.

Throw away my kitchen gloves,
take your time,
you're no longer in love,
remember which tune,
trips on broken spikes,
it still rings true,
heaven's a cover,
when you reach a time,
sings within your blood,
I'll hum it for you,
make the cockrell cry,
hear the wind go boom,
stay with those who scrub,
try to live generous lives,
who never get the rub,
like I will never rue,
the miseries of your crime,
whatever happens to you,
listen to what's above,
drink a drop of wine,
fly like a released dove,
pray for reasons why >

In a room that speaks,
listening to the rain,
she pulls away from sleep,
this is not my tune,
she says,
the piano is too crude,
notes are stuck in between,
a she moon hesitates,
it knows where she's been,
Paris and sunlit avenues,
memories of Spain,
free of all interludes,
wrapped in a cotton sheet,
she selects black lace,
covers long legs and knees,
outside sits a Magnolia tree,
her bed's like a cradle,
she ignores how it creaks,
sometimes in the season,
she regards a life shaken,
sits still hears the sea,
love marks her day.

We live or die in here,
the first one offers wine,
others circle near,
bereft of dreams lonely stars,
our debts are high,
the journey’s never are,
moon bright clifftops shear,
lit by hidden lights,
who can hide their fear,
someone makes a mark,
another wonders why,
it beats in unhappy hearts,
ice as bright as tears,
chill our ghostly ride,
danger is forever near,
forget their shining cars,
they don’t see us cry,
before we approach the Arc,
we will cost them dear,
deprived us of our rights,
cool, considered, clear,
we aim our fire.

Dont forget you're better,
than those you kiss,
they can only stick together,
they come here for booze,
look like they're clipped,
some are unhooked,
strain to see my breasts,
everything they miss,
feel they aren't blessed,
no time for Monday’s Blues,
when they see my hips,
study this thing called truth,
forget ny easy duress,
I'm as tough as shit,
play music only by request,
look at all of you,
does your heartbeat skip,
if you take me for a fool,
would it make you better,
if I turned and stripped,
steamed up your kettle,
let the ropes go kid ?

What do you care,
if worries stretch my face,
you’d think it fair,
the tunes in blue trees,
say you need space,
spun on the breeze,
you still won't share,
time that we framed,
place who put me there,
chained to inequity,
hostile as your gaze,
it's a hymn to serendipity,
I know what's in the air,
how your voice raises,
when you're scared,
down harried streets,
trying to dodge fate,
acting sugar sweet,
you're not worth my glare,
think you're so great,
not even aware,
how I pass the days?

Your face an empty zone,
very far from ecstasy,
tells all I need to know,
far away in real time,
the daily conspiracy,
my life stutters the line,
your mouth's a cruel loan,
my words have worked free,
keeps me on my toes,
most days I drink wine,
it's there to ease,
you and other lousy swine,
every lie a fine toothcomb,
dancings bears around honey,
smiles like stone roses,
our house besides the sea,
bottom of a sand road,
begets some other fantasy,
your body lists and groans,
murder dares me to be,
an angel coming home,
I can watch on TV.

What dreams do we keep,
they ask us the ghosts,
sat on bar stools seats,
leave us alone we say,
our skin might need soap,
but we're here to stay,
we are not upbeat,
if they splay out the rope,
what will be will be,
do what we do anyway,
face as strong as stones,
throw all our cares today,
music from the deep,
carries tiny rays of hope,
deep within our state,
don't ask us to play,
tunes we do not know,
life is a great big cake,
we all need our sleep,
stuff we use to cope,
if you could only see,
the way we rattle home.

Who can't dream of empathy,
sitting on a wall,
listening to the sea,
you catch my eyes awake,
dancing on thorns,
why treat me like a fake,
each day of uncertainty,
brings protest to my calls,
absence of how to feel,
I'd like to stake,
a fear of being torn,
is the cause of heartache,
someone asks me,
a penny for your thoughts,
I say infidelity,
doubts fog my days,
sometimes wonder if I'm born,
fear manifests craze,
waves crash on the lee,
glad what i've been taught
this is really me,
watching enthralled.

Youre a fool at dawn,
to say something like that,
your eyes like frogspawn,
I want to be at sea,
on a wooden raft,
leave me time to dream,
summon ancient charm,
from our little chats,
you're not even warm,
need to speak clearly,
roar like a big cat,
this is how I'm feeling,
does it make you torn,
your love on the flat,
I still have some form,
ride rails dance and weep,
adjust my Ray-Bans,
drain nights before I sleep,
gallop through the dawn,
don't have to wear a hat,
act like I'm never born,
make life a gas?

On a white garden seat,
I carry a load,
it takes time to defeat,
secrets like sea weed,
ravaged lipstick Eau De Cologne,
wrap around my feet,
when lovers trick or treat,
perfume gets soaked,
we drink whiskey neat,
living by a swollen creek,
my prayers take hold,
my granny picks at sleeves,
rifle's next to the sheets,
she's no rolling stone,
wants to protect me,
cure my unease,
isolate me at home
bathed in love or yeast,
there are still more beats,
I measure in the gloam,
tell him how I feel,
no public telephones.

You know what it means,
to live alone,
thoughts harden into dreams,
I'm cool but burn with rage,
even to atone,
makes you turn away,
this isn't my scene,
journey's not my own,
long past where I've been,
maybe useless to fake,
life as a trombone,
one note always too late,
it's never safe to heed,
what i've done,
but no one makes me plead,
wave goodbye to fame,
drop it like a stone,
no one stops my flame,
I'll mine a new seam,
can still hear your moans,
withstand any heat,
mend my broken bowl.

Please don't act all fine,
playing out your games,
somewhere you’ll do time,
maybe sing the blues,
on a hard bedframe,
it's all left to you,
what don't turn out right,
is never far from pain,
sleeping bad drinking wine,
strum your cretin’s tune,
I’m coming home you say,
call that good news,
naked to your crimes,
light dances on the plain,
lost in your own designs,
howling out what's true,
on some dismal train,
tears blur your bitter fruit,
when you talk travel lines,
slumbering in the rain,
remember me to your lies,
baby think again.

Destiny
Sweet talk makes me curl,
say enough now Basta,
am never just your girl,
silken wraps you've thrown,
stories that collapse,
face moulded like a stone,
plates occasionally hurled,
nothing holds you fast,
drives your work not care,
life is just a loan,
if you think that crass,
worry on your own,
you're not perturbed,
if my time has gassed,
keep the flag furled,
I'll dance on brown chairs,
make everyone laugh,
raise my eyes to the air,
Daddy stay there or burn,
put love on the gas,
let the flame whirr,
I'm not the past.

Nothing left to negotiate,
fortify your boots,
make good other escapes,
they're only clowns,
who bring you news,
say you're on your own,
reason comes too late,
to heal their broken looks,
every legend needs to wait,
you're not a rolling stone,
want to know the truth,
don’t worry about the phone,
if you make such waves,
it shouldn't bother you,
will always have your say,
separate the clones,
leave this bluest bayou,
you’re not coming home,
when Oceans roll and sway,
welcome them with food,
step closer to the flame,
plenty more in you.

Bethany
Seeks explosive release,
in what she cannot find,
nothing seems to please,
she won't hear good news,
love is just a grind,
a cover-up for truth,
with ahint of blasphemy,
she doesn't do sublime,
why givw them a treat,
triea to hide the Blues,
any nourish to make wise,
asks who's there for you,
shakes impatiently car keys,
December's out of mind,
work’s no Odyssey,
chained to bitter tunes,
haunting family crimes,
she'd stoke another feud,
forget any sense of ease,
of justice place or time,
the path to any freedom,
another clock to wind.

Tell me, tell me why,
I'm like a burden shared,
my lips dissolve their cries,
who says run stay clear,
remember fogotten hurt,
avoid such vale of tears,
am such a beautiful sight,
had better take care,
bells ring out at night,
my life contains relief,
in a shiny chiffon skirt,
puts strong men to sleep,
I walk a woman going by,
through a city bared,
each ones searches my eyes,
throw flowers at my feet,
roses for my hair,
I am asked to entreat,
scatter perfume on the air,
to sing my song here,
in darkness by green turns,
how I sparkle first.

A worn-out empty feeling,
hot kitchens bad aches,
something's leaking,
he brings me the news,
with his doctor’s face,
seems he knows the truth,
but I long for the sea,
nothing makes me fazed,
more than a bad dream,
looking for something new,
I will fky away,
unshackle those Delta Blues,
show it on the street,
how I'll work and save,
more to me than belief,
won't be left in perdue,
falling like the rain,
dance down broken avenues,
nothing sends me keening,
I'll be born again,
laughter fills my being,
prancing sunny days.

What it is to fly,
within a screaming gale,
no use trying to tie,
down on my bones,
I never look for fame,
wonder at myself alone,
studying a time,
when everything fails,
I search for style,
it's hard to atone,
when sometimes there's shame,
contrition drags us home,
flip a coin study sky,
talk of finding sail,
I always enjoy a cry,
sip wine from broken cones,
discard desolate mail,
throw stones at our ghosts,
nothing's worse than jail,
time forsakes the while,
catch us on the trail,
how brightly we smile.

I dream of his class,
silken war torn,
listening to him gasp,
struggling without scorn,
broken unsought,
makes me feel reborn,
removing the traps,
dancing on thorns,
he’s a modern-day iconoclast,
what have I caught,
riding this storm,
useless dime a penny thoughts,
you say it overlaps,
now that he's gone,
hiding under Burlap,
at the church next door,
I'll remove his form,
love hits the floor,
he broke his fast,
I fed him corn,
now I’m aghast,
shaking unsure.

Out by the long lights,
side by side in harmony,
we are cool as anthracite,
why take a train,
or sail for the lee,
when you can jump a plane,
so far we're all right,
who needs reason,
we act like socialites,
it's fun being away,
we don't ever concretely,
inquire about pain,
a cruel silent night,
doesn’t stand scrutiny,
blue dawn can’t buy,
our horizon’s frayed,
diamond sun's all-seeing,
it pierces the strain,
we want to be free,
we say from on high,
below us the sea,
don’t ask me why?

Valery
My eyes try to fix a place,
where we just carry on,
a price one has to pay,
who cares for the cones,
who rise like birds on Babylon,
beyond western pay phones,
when you see my face,
the silver rings of ruin,
all will all become plain,
a time to stay alone,
wolves howl at the moon,
don't like being at home,
maybe I'll take a train,
find last winter's love,
sail around Biscay,
who knows where I’ll go,
a sojourn of broken rungs,
heavy as a stone,
when you kindle flame,
bleach hair and use a comb,
who can ever really say,
where we come from ?

That’s behind you now,
it's over no more duels,
a breeze makes you scowl,
on golden sand you dream,
all that hides in blue,
scrubbed gently by the sea,
it's easy to be thrown,
what you've been through,
why not get brown,
home swells with yellow leaves,
they carry all the news,
just let me be,
what you can't undo,
or let your tongue refuse,
is beginnings of a prelude,
why not wax and seal,
offer them your perfume,
put them on the wheel,
concoct some faithful tale,
where everything is good,
no one lets you down,
no one makes you lose.

Who can resist,
my diminished fame,
whatever crumbles in the mist,
hidden by dunes and scree,
realms of useless probate,
gather at my feet,
beware of those you kiss,
please don’t turn and say,
I am being a realist,
this quayside ticks with heat,
sunshine cuts a million shapes,
my faraway look all seeing,
let everything go amiss,
I say again,
rage won't absolve us,
everything we see,
we'll see again,
include our vaulting envy,
uncertain misfits,
play their games,
dreams lost in wickedness,
I beg for my name.

You cross to the lee,
things are never the same,
salt drifts on the breeze,
danger is in your eyes,
fame is in your gait,
has it brought another spy,
perfume from last night’s heat,
bourne on gentle waves,
love beckons at your feet,
how you hold the line,
you cannot say,
even if you tell a lie,
a prayer outside the sacristy,
bright jewel for your ways,
silk on a darkened sea,
beyond the burning pyre,
someone chants your name,
sandalwood rises,
truth is never easy,
essence of turbulent days,
chained to your odyssey,
you dance to flames.

Rosalie
A painter of religious scenes,
she dabs another frame,
stands quiet without relief,
regards the thing she's honed,
tired of other games,
doubts she's ever alone,
in yellow nights of dreams,
even when she's far away,
nothing is what it seems,
in many ways she's prone,
looks lost without a name,
the work is just her own,
insight lets her see,
painting's like the mail,
it arrives from history,
the pull of other thrones,
never lets her reign,
serene when she's gone,
work is her Gethsamane,
wakes and eyes the day,
another stroke for liberty,
can be no other way.

Love holds the door ajar,
hair falls to my knees,
it doesnt go very far,
you sit around a Pool,
wind bends in the trees,
who needs this news,
they ask about your Da,
just another wheeze,
lonely as a shooting star,
the money he tooled,
and didnt show much mercy,
punishing other fools,
home's another carp,
furnished by mother's cries,
a place of stolen parts,
including you, you fool,
forget the hurt he seized,
there's another you,
that sits across the bar,
regards the evening sea,
wish it could be more,
love let's me dream.
Penny
An unread poem on my knees,
you demand to see the child,
but what lies in between,
you always think you know,
a fury in your smile,
pain like a broken bone,
am I not allowed some ease,
do you ignore the signs,
believe your perfect belief,
even if it's not true,
a power beyond my sight,
why always claim the virtue,
wrap prayers around your rosary,
whispered dry at night,
throw them back at me,
terms you want to accrue,
beyond heaven's insight,
your lawyers stick like glue,
before asking the judiciary,
to take the precious mite,
where is love in this,
would you have me die?

Don't let some doom crew,
make it seem,
you always sing the Blues,
cold weather brings them on,
floats them on the breeze,
they always find a home,
if the wind rocks cruel,
they'll blow on your dreams,
find ways for you to lose,
stay here my lovely one,
laugh beside a swollen sea,
nothing beats what’s gone,
the dark days of feud,
make them just history,
you’ll beat any curfew,
when fields turn brown,
remain here alongside me,
our love is a marathon,
dance the way you do,
escaping their screams,
keep the chosen few,
believe what you believe.

Fear hollows out my night,
makes me summon ancient flame,
waits for lamps to light,
when I'm most shot through,
you’ll hear me straight,
change is my due,
a dream of life outside,
special moments to play,
drink a little wine,
there are no avenues,
I won’t walk again,
you'll never pass through,
laugh in a better clime,
no one else to blame,
part of me dying,
you won't shine my shoes,
of all the pieces today,
my tide will turn blue,
beside an early sunrise,
you can't supply what's great,
don't look away in fright,
I won't come back again
Maya
Say it’s time to leave,
don't really want to go,
if you must believe,
now just want away,
to live or die alone,
dig my own grave,
our love is bittersweet,
no real need for home,
kids house dog big dreams,
shifted silence of your company,
your dance on moonlit stones,
I want to stay pretty,
sing along and pray,
the only song I own,
before you jump the gate,
can you hear me scream,
locked to an iron stove,
like the caves of Thebes,
please don't push me,
I only weigh eight stone,
who are you to grieve,
when I go to Rome ?

It's been a while,
so there you go,
waited on you like a child,
when donkeys start to bray,
or the cock crows,
you always fade away,
no need to find,
what you never owned,
could search for miles,
stars might show the way,
frozen in your clothes,
for all you've gained,
say you don't mind,
it's just another show,
freshens up the time,
will you stay a while,
wrapped up in the snow,
have you got the style,
sit by a fire,
don’t worry or scold,
try to stay kind,
why don't you know ?

You like sugared tea,
my tears are lachrymose,
your jokes not for me,
once it might have been,
suppose you atone,
wind turns in the chimneys,
lets replace uncertainty,
ride out the blow,
Oh we'll have to see,
nail your wandering feet,
the moon makes to roam,
lights pathways you leave,
who needs the sea
tides are very close,
more faithful than your being,
should I bother to stitch,
the hung up clothes ,
now I've ceased believing,
kids are still at home,
I'll fix a drink alone,
change into bright clothes,
make some calls by phone.

Your kisses leave me,
crying on the train,
bad tongues raised in family,
your shocked views,
run dread across my face,
more jelly for the blues,
who knows what to believe,
but a growing grain,
brings blessed relief,
who'll protects this crew,
from the orphanage gates,
do they hear the truth,
a swollen relief,
a stillborn fate,
a tiny star across the sea,
you can't see how cruel,
life can be,
before sunrise looms,
your tears won't reach,
me going away,
guilt riddles my dreams,
hope for better days.

Don't say get a grip,
when someone fails below,
let another moment slip,
I need strength to pray,
sooth my chromes,
my quest to keep awake,
stowaways have surly lips,
betrayed by wretched homes,
others simply quip,
tired jokes and life dismayed,
on 49 different time zones,
lies in everything they say,
they make my eyes dip,
consumption in their bones,
pays to take another nip,
who knows how I'll sleep,
try to act grown,
ask faith take a leap,
wonder who'll end this trip,
will the wind moan,
nail me to a coffin ship,
hunger in our soul.

Is this the place,
to ask the reason why,
love's gone lame,
hazed by loss and flow,
I beat out my time,
have nowhere else to go,
soaked by gin and fame,
desolate in my cry,
I'd do it all again,
what I need to know,
you don't beseech the sky,
ask for a one-time show,
will youjump the rail,
scale a mountainside,
to see me happy again,
my lips no longer glow,
surrounded by your lies,
leave me in a furrow,
no easy way to fake,
what hurts deep inside,
spin me on my grave,
eyes open wide.

Do you think I'm beat,
perhaps with a common air,
you can rescue everything,
if love’s the game,
heaven’s a place to share,
with my good name,
try my depths of need,
relinquish taking care,
it's not easy being me,
getting here’s insane,
never short of treasure,
astride the shipping lanes,
I know how to keep,
a wooden face on stairs,
bars are my sole conceit,
everyone I tame,
can usually find me there,
even without chains,
will anyone see,
the gaps between my shirt,
eyes lit like kerosene,
my breath elsewhere?

Is this how you imitiate,
your inventive best,
when you twist and shake,
open every door,
to level your fences,
wake up sore,
fuelled by what you make,
time like all the rest,
doesn't hesitate,
fools sing for applause,
faith brings a test,
two and two is more,
each nights cool probate,
scatters your innocence,
costs you to conflate,
the worthless poor,
who ask for your presence,
like dust on the floor,
in your search for gain,
is each task tended,
don’t send them away,
you'll need friends.

Is water in your blood,
in this house of whispers,
does it do any good,
places you might claim,
don't need a chorus,
blossom along the freeway,
Oh you're misunderstood,
not for you my bonus,
be prepared for trouble,
hire another brain,
tunnel what time insists,
laughter follows pain,
maybe you need a tug,
sail away without a ship,
when your dreams are dust,
search for love again,
tread the middle distance,
never bow to shame.
balance on the tidal flood,
ride above the fuss,
go beyond the crumbs,
plenty is in all of us.

You'll pay a heavy score,
my face is savage blue,
love is swollen raw,
without a sense of ease,
am always in your Queue,
you never do say please,
don't outline some shore,
sitting in the gloom,
a footfall for your cause,
often when we meet,
no one hears good news,
someone sometimes screams,
I knock on lonely doors,
turn my life askew,
sweating furious pause,
why shout and swear at me,
spitting out your spume,
only a fool would heed,
as you rage and roar,
you'll never be my glue,
I have other mores,
am already over you.

Forget these clowns,
who come to woo you,
so many without a plan,
as loud as your woes,
ships blow their hooters,
songs sing of home,
not what's in your gown,
that makes them swoon,
it goes beyond your tan,
you don't need a throne,
in bars where they're shoeless,
you'd rather be gone,
nothing’s ever by chance,
your eyes are reduced,
everything comes to pass,
barefoot you raise a glass,
shameless eyes on view,
face your countenance,
strange these ocean towns,
these faded boozers,
no sign of your crown,
only faces and losers.

Will you let me know,
how others feel,
if it's in your bones,
my jilted smile's strange,
hangs like mist on trees,
they see it every day,
take your time right now,
forget my nights of reels,
the river always flows,
embrace the pouring rain,
laugh in mountain streams,
I sing in hopes of praise,
you've nothing to bestow,
free from crazy schemes,
life is our picture show,
too long to be a saint,
living without a dream,
face down dread uncertainty,
what you did was wrong,
but I see how you've been,
replace it with a song,
you can join my team.

Bellow at dreams betrayed,
conceal bitter unholy things,
take them to your grave,
you cant afford the Blues,
where everything just sinks,
heavy notes end on cue,
what a sound they make,
a curdled love to everything,
who will know your fate,
smoke cigarettes in the dunes,
when called upon to prate,
life is just a hula-hoop,
it rolls around your days,
you really want to fling,
salt at heartaches far away,
but here's someone brand new,
laughs at toys that ring,
knows what isn't true,
don’t gamble all and say,
love to me is nothing,
you can’t cheat the age,
find a place to sing.

I still hear me Da,
laughing like a foghorn,
long ago seems so far,
happy he's not scarred,
or left forlorn.
I start the car,
when he stamps the tar,
he's like a newborn,
a fallen star,
I turn the key off,
he looks war-torn,
what about me Ma,
like he's left the ark,
he’s not even sure,
where he's from,
I can’t find a chart,
to tell me the score',
it’s gone too far,
a trip to the park,
an old shirt he’s worn,
things fall apart,
love has no form.

Verity
I hope to keep trouble at bay,
any life requires,
problems just look away,
they'll pester me for loans,
your eyes seek the tide,
tell them we're gone,
stumble in the haze,
dampen all desire,
fools are easy or brave,
scared to your bones,
they won’t call you a liar,
or chase us with guns,
ride the blue waves,
like a cold fish knife,
love is our only gain,
why don't you 'phone,
I dance among candlelit signs,
don't go on your own,
is this what you crave,
me turning up for hire,
pine needles and hay,
a soul on fire?

Ulyssa
It's quiet here now,
after fifty years of grief,
my face smooth as stone,
can still see the cave,
where they let me bleed,
thank God I'm saved,
my body under snow,
taken back to the sea,
rocking on the tidal flow,
give me this grace,
grant such serenity,
attend all my feast days,
geese with barren tones,
sail skies as they freeze,
time on their shoulder,
they honk on their way,
late for the season,
I'm just the same,
in the clean blue dawn,
stripped like a tree,
in my hands is a rose,
the old loving need.

If I’m to freeze,
my soul strung on wire,
someone better set me free,
in your eyes amour,
will you do what's right,
say you know the score,
rock me gently,
mutter everything‘s fine,
don't worry baby,
I'm the soul of lost hordes,
all entwined,
who roll around my floor,
glamorous, perfect, serene,
kiss me quietly,
do what others dream,
a perfect night,
have I just died,
drawing toils of water,
a star across the sea,
I love the morning light,
let me reach the quays,
my ship afire.
Sal
Don't say I’m fake,
that love can't twist,
make me pack my case,
the world hesitates,
like it has a stitch,
I’m not afraid,
someone asks for change,
for a dollar bill,
it'd be churlish to say,
go spin on your plate,
the cheek of his gist,
someone weeps in a door frame,
living around this place,
could be a launderette,
everyone spins their fate,
a little smile migrates,
I'm with all the misfits,
who’ve never seen a wage,
such little time of grace,
when you figure it,
puts a smile upon my face,
nothing's missing.

You scream bad news,
in troubled nights,
as if you really knew,
all the different tones,
left hanging on the line,
the loving naoled now gone,
flame bursts up the flue,
don't tell me how to cry,
while you turn and look,
it’s not me you locked,
swimming against the tide,
everything held and lost,
no matter what you do,
however you may try,
no one is immune,
who cares who gets phoned,
something deep inside,
shines outside my home,
enough really of your blues,
pillows furl the sky,
death brings no easy due,
even when you die.

Queen
You wonder why I pray,
handed kids like these,
makes you snort cocaine,
run a bath with foam,
not wanting to believe,
all my loving's done,
see your cheap face,
forget to say please,
horizons appear in rain,
in the wind and stones,
I don't need your needs,
assist my journey home,
fire me through the days,
make my troubles cease,
keep wondering about the Bay,
each of my lonesome bones,
becomes suddenly free,
now I'm out that zone,
remembering sweet days,
the trips to the sea,
lord how we praised,
our dance at Thebes?

Patsy
Before my fame,
I only thought of you,
and how you slaved,
shadows climb in blue smoke,
contain an awful truth,
shocked again I'm broke,
you always hated waste,
played successful tunes,
now another age,
longing for a happy home,
I look down red lit rooms,
stripped to the bone,
inside class cafe's,
I could have bloomed,
singing night and day,
holding to the simple notes,
could have soothed,
those who felt left alaone,
to begin again,
is hardly news,
these outside dreams,
relate our feuds

Can you identify,
that ghostly line,
between moon and sky,
what has been emptied,
and other parts denied,
on this flood tide,
don't need an inquiry,
when truth in sight,
then simply buried,
witness the crime,
when you’re in tight,
to where rich men dine,
some wash down Daiquiri,
laugh or fight,
it makes them happy,
every walk of life,
ends with a pity,
you should see their wives,
by security lights,
pooled outside the wire,
courses winter twilight,
the poor ask why ?
Sunday, 24 September 2023
Nancy
I have no need of you,
stepping off this train,
even with such terrible news,
hate to appear like stone,
seeing anyone anyway,
on the street or Metro,
haven't got a clue,
how it will go today,
demanding what is due,
I arranged the loans,
pointed out the lay,
told you not to act alone,
now you're in the stew,
my voice flares and fades,
is this really my issue,
when I used to moan,
I now erase,
everything I once called home,
how you sing the blues,
ask where I'm at today,
truth is a bitter fruit,
I cry just the same.

Madelyn
You grab for the deeds,
laid out on the bar,
say a roof brings serenity,
blow all my pay,
then fly afar,
you're a terrible waste,
heading to the sea,
like something in a bottle,
I can't set you free,
in a different age,
you’d have a fancy car,
now you're intestate,
you don’t fill my needs,
but a warm hazy fog,
rolls your childhood dreams,
dancing on the waves,
I'm the stuff you're not,
separating all the wreckage,
love's no good for me,
it leaves too many scars,
holy water is my drink,
what's going on?
Friday, 22 September 2023
Lainey
some mornings ask myself why,
can we ever live alone,
stars pale before my eyes,
might as well be Mars,
for all anyone knows,
we've sailed out that far,
explode within my sight,
the wind is black and cold,
is this another time,
are kids and dogs you want,
never to atone,
always remain calm,
when you hear me cry,
running from the phone,
just don’t sit and sigh,
say there will be scars,
like coffee on the chrome,
a battle's not a war,
no matter how we fight,
strain every wretched bone,
hold me close tonight,
are you coming home ?
Thursday, 21 September 2023
Kayla
Living here's no paradise,
never makes the news,
why try being nice,
might as well be space,
useless stars, sea and moon,
ladle food to our plate,
we need a better life,
no matter what we do,
many fall away from spite,
our song still resonates,
a feeling beyond the Blues,
when looking over the gate,
this town is our life,
always something here for you,
even naked sodium lights,
what we want to create,
is sing within our blood,
in order to relate,
home is on easy nights,
when we search for truth,
forgive everyone before we die,
searching for our youth.

Jackie
Wouldn't it be great,
to forget how much we owe,
share out what remains,
resist the need to wrong,
water skins our bones,
keeps within our song,
I watch for the rain,
tumble down a stony slope,
hope it finds the drains,
we'll just bumble along,
walk with what we know,
love makes us strong,
fling the time away,
greet the evening fallow,
trains are always late,
I’ll never let you down,
or worry about the loans,
you've no need to frown,
my red lips shine ornate,
blush with falling snow,
a whisky drink to chase,
we'll never be alone.

Standing by an unlit lamp,
a tree, a bridge, shaking,
await my fellow tramps,
listen to some muted song,
who would ever negate,
a need to belong,
better take a chance,
we can plays this game,
maybe visit south of France,
hope we're not wrong,
looking at the rain,
stream against a wooden bar,
ask how much this path,
will shuffle our remains,
without many wounds to lance,
someone will come along,
maybe even praying,
put something in our pocket,
cigarettes and laughs,
beer sipped like champagne,
try to make life dance,
praise each coming day.

If I’m set to freeze,
soul strung without fire,
you'd better set me free,
in your eyes amour,
you know what's right,
calculate uneven scores,
rock me gently,
say everything ‘s fine,
say don't worry baby,
your heart is my cause,
bound and entwined,
like jelly on the floor,
perfect and serene my queen,
you exert quietly,
do what others have dreamed,
a perfect lightness,
have I just seemed,
to float on water,
a star across the sea,
I swear to the night,
let me reach the quays,
this is my time?
Sunday, 17 September 2023
Gerry
You won't let me fail,
if anyone asks to dance,
in rooms of evening pale,
you always play the fool,
wait for kindness to pass,
no path too smooth,
nothing more to say,
except a glance,
at what you do today,
I rage against the news,
empty as a lonely repast,
my eyes set on you,
life is finely weighted,
your face tanned,
I'll inform you later,
what you must do,
pull over make a stance,
tell me you're no fool,
whirl me 'round again,
test me for balance,
say what you need to say,
if you want a chance

You scream the news,
in troubled nights,
as if you knew,
all the different songs,
left hanging on the line,
you let loose and gone,
fire burns in the flue,
don't tell me how to cry,
when you sing the blues,
it’s not me who's locked,
swimming against the tide,
losing everything lost,
no matter what you use,
however hard you try,
no one is immune,
who cares who is crocked,
something deep inside,
shines outside my shock,
I won't hit that tune,
clouds furl the sky,
death brings no easy due,
especially if you lie.

I throw away the years,
every age has its crust,
the laughs and happy tears,
no life is too short,
for those who you trust,
in our toil of waters,
you run like the deer,
carry a smell of musk,
in hazy bars so dear,
I know what you taught,
spinning pennies in the dust,
laughing never overawed,
what brought you here,
on this tidal flood,
somone so sincere,
no book or district Court,
hides the fact you’re bust,
what you sought,
blow flame across my fears,
bring me all the luck,
I hope before you disappear,
geese ride on the dusk.

Della
Lit up at some ocean bar,
within the hurricane zones,
searching forgotten odds,
only dumbo's pay their dues,
make you drink alone,
leave you here to stew,
we can only go so far,
before the evening folds,
to bring out dodgy cards,
even without a feud,
on throwaway 'phones,
my ravaged face turns Blue,
your hair is like tar,
Saints reveal their bones,
we've so gone afar,
the trail is well used,
far away from home,
life circles around us,
ours is not a lucky star,
whenever we are smote,
hotels offer us a Spa,
journeys of love bespoke.
Wednesday, 13 September 2023
Casey
Don't break holy orders,
claim it’s all your mother,
stuff you swore,
lover's free to stash,
all the stuff you smother,
windows without a sash,
can you see my core,
a belly like an oven,
flames that will endure,
whenever there's no cash,
you curse your brother,
he says don't be flash,
hard words behind his door,
fools live with clutter,
hands held out fraught,
no book or deeds lashed,
must you lie like others,
ignore their crash,
they'll pay a heavy score,
always be in trouble,
love for you is raw,
have you got cover?
Tuesday, 12 September 2023
Bella
Wrong notes I throw away,
what else can you do,
session muso's look grave,
forget what's not fair,
life's not a pool,
we're not that square,
give the eye don't hesitate,
why try to act the fool,
show them our silky traits,
it's not my long hair,
plaided like Saskatoon,
that makes them scared,
we go against the grain,
out here in the blue,
engineers and delegates,
our songs make them care,
think we're full of virtue,
those inside the circle,
singing keeps us resonate,
their world's not of fools,
hands across my face,
they know I love you.

Amy
Bring me sparkling jewels,
let me laugh through tears,
never to be cruel,
my voice brings you grace,
what else can you hear,
there is no bad faith,
turn your head you fool,
meet this siren near,
don't ever act bemused,
my singing seals your fate,
perfume costs you dear,
listen before too late,
dreams bring other rules,
an ached for vision clear,
golden domes pursued,
along the shipping lanes,
whole lives move their gear,
some carry too much freight,
laugh at torrid news,
find a passage clear,
put aside your issues,
sail for better years.

Zia
I'll stay with you,
if I'm not too late,
stick to you like glue,
don't make me groan,
like a special case,
happiness is never forlorn,
I'll borrow the moon,
reach beyond church or state,
make you beat bad fortune,
we are never alone,
around corners or gates,
even a promenade of stones,
tell me the truth,
if your vision's so great,
why sleep in ruins,
maybe a broken home,
lets me stake my case,
dusty as a heavy tome,
please don't argue,
take me as your mate,
forget all the rumours,
love doesn’t age.

You dance in the tide,
your fame is just beginning,
say you need a bride,
my mother says stay true,
she is not forgiving,
for love running smooth,
tobacco blonde full of lies,
fresh alive and kicking,
you sing on many a night,
it brings me back to you,
women do your bidding,
you have no curfew,
who knows if she's right,
when you demand anything,
sunlight, water, sky,
love blows down the avenue,
daisy heads are dipping,
won't melt me lemon blue,
your lips twist like knives,
you had better stay true,
I'll nail you with my smile,
nothing else is new.

I'm Lucky to pass this way,
no one here is brave,
each evening conjugate,
don't worry if I jeer,
I am not a knave,
measure life not fear,
to broken laws you pray,
define yourself and state,
be gentle with your say,
I can still drink beer,
even if I’m late,
a drunken innocent muscateer,
School rings out for play,
rather than enslave,
I’m the one to elevate,
other stuff brings tears,
why scream or hesitate,
let other souls swim near,
my teaching hair turns grey,
a sum of constant forays,
lovers we can celebrate,
you like me are great.

Winona
Bring me a sweet sign,
in darkness of grain blue,
my eyes need this flight,
sing to me I moan,
in this place of virtue,
no one dies alone,
we'll sail among the isles,
our brightly lit fuse,
makes prayer of our lives,
steer an even course,
funeled by sweet perfume,
caressing all we know,
you are my shining light,
more than any muse.
only we decide,
when we’re growing old,
age will bring us fuel,
solace lives on hold,
bells ring out the night,
our journey fires the truth,
laughter tells us why,
joy is in our moon.

Verity
I'm the one who fights,
priest's robes of purple hue,
prefer my cotton stripes,
within this sea of sharks,
my smile arrives on cue,
beams as I make a mark,
don't ask for crass disguise,
to a lover of balloons,
try to make me wise,
I parade towards the dark,
when visitor's are due,
my hair's the best part,
it blows around my eyes,
beyond the day's blues,
men make a bridge of sighs,
you're no shining lark,
my spirit lifts the room,
I shall call you Clark,
you’ll pay my fines,
there's nothing to refuse,
explore my best smile,
you'll laugh brand new.
Tuesday, 5 September 2023
Ursa
It just goes to show,
when I hear your blues,
in some lane dead slow,
being witness to your sighs,
ugly internal feuds,
the weary lies,
drink Chardonay think of loans,
energy to sooth,
my boiling bones,
instead of all the jibes,
amid these stinking fumes,
you won’t make me cry,
realise it's all you know,
how to haunt a venue,
keeping up a teary note,
don't try to be wise,
you have nothing new,
I've marked these nights,
better face the blow,
something we always knew,
deep within my soul,
little space for you.

Tiffany
if you knew how to give,
you wouldn't need,
seek a place to live,
this is no child’s game,
around what you believe,
chasing all your days,
what about the kids,
with their surly needs,
must they go adrift,
golden ties can't negate,
what shifts on the breeze,
you let blow away,
frame those terrible tips,
you think such a wheeze,
nail the coffin lid,
even fools hesitate,
to bring you gifts.
what else can you desecrate,
to live a life by drips,
no care or loving heed,
what yellow light strips,
lays bare your creed?
Sunday, 3 September 2023
Samantha
Whoever owns the right,
across a wind hushed dune,
makes you wonder why,
you keep a cheerful tone,
relegate the blues,
watch him on the go,
forget the bitter times,
all the cool untruths,
he skims across the tide,
living dreams without a phone,
always glad to see you,
a place that life postponed,
the air splashes at night,
arriving in a fog bound loop,
do you tolerate his lies,
reach for holy stones,
kid yourself not to look,
what you open,
he whistles songs passing by,
laughs and hums a tune,
says it's stupid to lie,
you regard him as a fool.

Renee
The love you sow,
dissolves and gives way,
broken like a stone,
is it in your creed,
to waste all the days,
until you feel a heartbeat,
in garments sewn,
by a drunken oblate,
who takes the first throw,
incense, flowers and the sea,
waves dance without bones,
this time it's for real,
how much have you cloned,
using love as a game,
head bowed when you go,
a bower near the trees,
whisky and blame,
you'll never be at ease,
brilliant ozone,
carries your name,
Summer ebbs against the flow,
I'll find my own space.

This is not me speaking,
jelly for my thoughts,
each day jaw bones creaking,
a serious fall from grace,
cast adrift forlorn,
there's no need to create,
make a fool of reason,
loudly laugh if caught,
a splintered axe of seasons,
you might read and quake,
fake absence at my calls,
when I scream and shake,
unaware of your treason,
sometimes wonder if I'm born,
fearing for the next scene,
erasure of the lousy stakes,
you'll fear being torn,
I'm a widow maker,
who can dream of empathy,
drinking on a wall,
boom of a broken sea,
I'm not here at all.

I need another home,
help me to say,
you know what is gone,
stuff I need to do,
unravel the waste,
pick out what's new,
delay troubled zones,
find solace every day,
seek the unknown,
the sea is lemon blue,
cafe's swell with rain,
crowded darkened rooms,
listen to my bones,
love will find a way,
without being shown,
what is sought by few,
allows no thought of gain,
unfazed by the truth,
orchestral storms,
glisten with day,
you will never be alone,
show me the same.

Why live in a haze,
it's not bad this time,
crumpled like cellophane,
best not to moan,
drink holy wine,
you're not on your own,
don't jump at trains,
scour down the line,
for the perfect way,
in your worn-out clothes,
enjoy what’s around,
live without loans,
make a step change,
scrape off the grime,
find love instead of trade,
when someone groans,
say you don't understand,
move out of that zone,
regaled by your days,
let your heart unwind,
have a greater say,
in all you design.

Nikki
Look at the moon,
a spring tide today,
love turns around too soon,
the birds who have flown,
seeking away,
sing as they go,
my eyes fill like pools,
wouldn't it be great,
to find someone new,
it's a hurricane zone,
where no one reigns,
to oversee the loans,
someone not cruel,
but kind and sedate,
someone not like you,
where the wind blows,
all emotion is played,
my emptiness gone,
the good parts were cool,
clear as acetate,
you forgot about dues,
high across the flames?

Why always ask why,
accept what you’ve chosen,
before stopping to deny,
stare into dead space,
your mouth frozen,
issuing stupid phrases,
sing your favourite lines,
time is done with roses,
accept all you decry,
beyond children’s faces,
neither shrunken nor spoken,
regale wonderful relations,
even at the graveside,
witness true love's bonus,
watch clouds sail the sky,
care settles any debate,
don’t wonder what follows us,
let go of the traces,
keep flowers at your side,
just some little token,
beyond a wish to verify,
we remain unbroken.

Never one to search for gain,
every task is spent,
working in the rain,
don't get sore,
putting up new fences,
I'm waitiong here indoors,
you know what it takes,
to grant me a presence,
an ungrateful reprobate,
fools sing for applause,
they have no credence,
I count out the score,
no need to celebrate,
to bring me your best,
life is not a game,
two and two makes four,
I'll alter your defences,
will always demand more,
see how you hesitate,
your invested rent,
in night's cool probate,
exploring good friends.

When donkeys start to bray,
we sit by the fire,
you turn to me and say,
its a lonely path alone
hung by a wire,
crossing the sea like Homer,
we can't take a train,
never mind the time,.
just sit here and wait,
this is our home,
not all a sweet desire,
but still no rolling stone,
watch all the silly games,
tell which gun's for hire,
explosions getting paid,
our horizon's broken,
no sail shines too bright,
love's our little token,
so far we remain OK,
who needs insight,
blankets aren't for slaves,
take our own sleepovers,
who cares about rights,
a silent tombola,
rescues our days.

Listrning to your news,
struggling in the break,
like last winter's blues,
no horizon's bright,
for the mark's a stain,
always claining your rights,
it makes life a purlieu,
a forest untamed,
possessing terrible attributes,
never did make the time,
to hear a donkey bray,
you sit by a fire,
before sunrise bears fruit,
your hope drains away,
say no one reaches you,
every wondered why,
enquires about your pain,
make us all take fright,
we're bored stupid too,
your fortunes hold sway,
rain dance on the roof,
we hide to escape.

You ask me what's new,
never one to help the poor,
your stuff arrives on cue,
did you ever say please,
divined by any whore,
never a sense of ease,
always ahead of the queue,
exploding into bedrooms,
you'd bust any curfew,
bad guys on the street,
a foil for your cause,
let you hear the screams,
it pulls your life askew,
hacking out your chores,
sweating on the latest news,
they know where you've been,
all your furious tours,
whose turn now to bleed,
you never were my glue,
dancing on some crowded floor,
your head full of ruin,
tilting at my door.

I simply try to calculate,
how many walls you climb,
beyond the spike of jail,
your lips can't fake,
disguise the taste of wine,
stood before the magistrate,
present some dreadful state,
think you look just fine,
brother take a mirror away,
it's not easy being great,
always wondering why,
even in a wooden crate,
terrible supplies of trace,
roll with citrus limes,
no one needs you anyway,
I'll take a plane,
winter in warm climes,
spend your gotten gains,
find someone else to bathe,
you'll be gone a while,
scrutinise my new face,
now you're safe inside.

He comes to me in bits,
say water's in his blood,
somehow nothing fits,
how Ma baked the cake,
more to life than this,
his Da just the same,
he carries yellow lists,
plain but all ripped up,
cries before the kids,
if there's another way,
perhaps he needs a shove,
defeat his troubled days,
I'll do what he insists,
even if it drives me nuts,
await another blitz,
act like someone gay,
who'll always make a fuss,
suffer all his phases,
in his house of whispers,
history never shuts,
you don't need a chorus,
stop him chopping wood.

What hurts deep inside,
something for you to face,
my eyes full of pride,
what you need to know,
no longer is the case,
wrapped in dollar notes,
new to me these lies,
to see your heart fade,
faithless tunes set aside,
a million ways to show,
explore this Lunar waste,
I've nowhere else to go,
desolate in my cries,
soaked by ill gotten gains,
I recognise your crime,
how the wind blows,
you'll eat grass in jail,
my lips contain no sorrow,
no time to step aside,
drink my cold Chardonnay,
why ask for reasons why,
am suddenly ashamed ?

My hands have a flow,
they maybe flawed,
but it's something I know,
love rides a lilac sea,
whoever takes the tour,
relies upon it with me,
life's more than a cone,
a furious cause,
I won't let you doze,
my tune is your creed,
come back for more,
let's rip this scene,
dance in my zone,
like you used to before,
our time is good mojo,
knowledge that's for real,
my clothes sweep the floor,
how good it feels,
I'll buffer your tones,
give succour to the poor,
temper your groans,
my eye on the door.

I'll let you follow,
what people up here feel,
in their bones,
that jilted smile's strain,
blowing through the trees,
they see it miles away,
right now those police cones,
scream locks without a key,
makes the river beckon,
why seek the rain,
peer in mountain streams,
you can't dance every day,
nothing to bestow,
with his other crazy schemes,
he was no picture show,
it's a long drain,
to live without a dream,
face out each coming day,
there's no need to borrow,
we see how you've been,
times it's best to know,
nothing's how it seems.

Gamble everything away,
don't care what you do,
it won't escape my rage,
at winter's iron maw,
each issue from your muse,
is just a shallow caw,
watch ships in the bay,
work is such a ruse,
salt always in your cake,
everyone's your whore,
sad song's arrive on cue,
what a cache they hoard,
smoking stogeys in the rain,
every trick in use,
your life is such a game,
love curdles tied with cord,
witness how they hate you,
one day they will roar,
swipe at causes betrayed,
conceal bitter fruit,
mangle roses at your grave,
drunk on schadenfreude.

Is it love of rain,
or a burning pyre,
you pray against,
sitting in the gloom,
asking who;s for hire,
no one leaves this room,
if there's problems look away,
listening to the criers,
habits not easy to break,
to do what you do,
your eyes seek the wire,
they were never blue,
give offerings to the saved,
provide ice cold ire,
nothing is what you gave,
whispering at my perfume,
provides a coat to lie in,
songs you sing never true,
defiled by trains,
your tongue is a liar,
the miracles you crave,
beyond any fire.

I stand in the nave,
where praise be,
I know I'll be saved,
my eyes are like thunder,
wine dark as the sea,
love never slumbers,
in the blue grave,
stripped beneath the trees,
nothing's left to trade,
between here and surrender,
grows an old amber need,
doesn't stay to linger,
my heart starts to break,
it's late for the season,
birds go on their way,
my face shines in wonder,
my soul laughing clean,
i nearly tore asunder,
it's quiet in this place,
fifty years of heed,
find their own space,
someone waits for me.
Yaretzi
She has some spark,
her lovely face lights,
mail waits in the yard,
she hankers for love,
the rest of the night,
why worry what's above,
with her delivery cart,
they ask her to try,
the latest bars,
we all need a crust,
the trolley suits her fine,
she won't drink doubles,
she never walks far,
to rush is a crime,
each step there's a mark,
works without gloves,
unlike other times,
when the sun comes up,
if there's ever a chart,
to show us what's right,
let us post cards,
she'll be first in line.

Ximena
In the Spring twilight,
you see the poor,
huddled by the security line,
it's cold for the season,
sons and daughters,
same lack of freedom,
the big river a tide,
brings a truth sought,
don't need to ask why,
they shiver in the lee,
the city above the port,
shines on sickness of being,
to worry about time,
if they'll be caught,
in some new policy drive,
there's just no reason,
to tolerate the slaughter,
rung like a guilty plea,
every walk of sodden life,
ends here with nought,
some bring their wives,
who could want more ?
Wynter
Like a ship on the sea,
i swear to the night,
let us reach the quays,
a shoal of lost hordes,
together in flight,
shine from the ocean's maw,
help us we plead ,
between moon and sky,
please set us free,
escape earth's back door,
the tryanny of lies,
bequeathed to the poor,
save us from the police,
wind the clock tight,
throw us our destiny,
make visions of the shore,
say do what's right,
sprinkle our Cologne,
please treat us gently,
say everything's fine,
we'll stay with faith,
never say die

Verity
A cross in her love,
to where we drink wine,
she gives us a shove,
a drink beneath stars,
it's not before time,
life is too stark,
she looks up above,
lost in her crime,
the year she goes bust,
hair like a jump start,
she hasn't a dime,
but still drives a car,
she steers the old tub,
down avenues of Lime,
the cops take a look,
it's never easy or calm,
sitting by her side,
my home isn't far,
she sings into her gloves,
passed neon street signs,
life's more than a crust,
she has to get by.

Pillows furl beneath the sky,
death brings no easy due,
even when you die,
who cares what is fake,
it still comes for you,
consumes you anyway,
something deep inside,
not just an ordinary blue,
lets you see the light,
those who come too late,
never follow rules,
fire burns in their grate,
however hard you try,
love is not immune,
it always makes me cry,
dying's when you castigate,
those who feel it too,
who never walk away,
forget these troubled nights,
they always bring bad news,
a hundred questions why,
as if you knew.

Tanvi
For those who ask of late,
a chance to tell why,
the house is losing slates,
run a bath with foam,
giving's in your creed,
your loving isn't done,
d'you remember the holidays,
our trips to the beach,
when you tried to paint,
studied all my bones,
become suddenly tipsy,
now the colour's gone,
guide me through these days,
make my troubles cease,
understand why I pray,
don't want to cast stones,
am OK on my feet,
assist my journey home,
wonder why i stay,
with artists like these,
empty horizons in the rain,
won't replace my needs.

Can't get past the news,
when you danced away,
no one sang the blues,
stepped up to your going,
angels have no shame,
all of value blown,
i haven't got a clue,
why in heaven's name,
you never gave what's due,
everything I call a home,
is somehow laid to waste,
the kids watched you go,
sing me a successful tune,
put gold around a cage,
nothing's here will do,
I hate to be alone,
won't see anyone anyway,
caution rings my tones,
truth's a bitter fruit,
rolls like a train,
dispenses with you,
strugglsing to reclaim.

Riley
To begin again,
it's hardly right,
blown down gossamer lanes,
I've lost a few,
given such nights,
show by airs of truth,
now my voice is game,
before it gets tight,
but not on your estate,
don't make me stew,
in this paradise,
accept my refusal,
in my own secret way,
I'll see the sights,
kiss me quietly again,
where others have gone,
without a fight,
i will blossom,
made everyone say,
she's a simple mite,
sing a lovely refrain,
made you sign.

Quin
Happy songs in my car,
holy water in my tank,
nothing else leaves a scar,
blown apart in little ways,
a gurgle from the crank,
she's together these days,
lets me burn the tar,
the sky looks dank,
scatter ashes on the bar,
what is left to say,
my mind's not blank,
clinging to the way,
I see clearly in fog,
no one else to thank,
she rolls like a log,
brings me to this state,
as if i am a bank,
treats me nice on holidays,
you never know how far,
it's best to be frank
know what's going on,
Mabel is no ham shank.
Peggy
Why ask for serenity,
like we're creatures in a jar,
rescued from the sea,
put together in a frame,
note a different mark,
something you can't name,
if others set us free,
a distant bell afar,
takes you back to childhood scenes,
is this a different age,
you drive an electric car,
it still feels strange,
nothing fills our need,
except a hazy fog,
somewhere we can dream,
dancing on the waves,
a sail across a spar,
toss overboard stuff's wreckage,
all the things you see,
all the time we're not,
that's just us laughing,
we carry on.

Olivia
Is that you Lady,
laughing as you go,
to keep men happy,
make me the same call,
by the river's flow,
tenderness in a Mall,
back in the bayou lakes,
the year of the blow,
give me a piece of cake,
geese in a barren fall,
rise slowly and croak,
don't make me bawl,
keep that trouble at bay,
no life is worth a moan,
give it one more day,
we'll go to the ball,
your face a pure glow,
diamonds make you tall,
in the brutal trades,
smile as only you know,
go beyond busy freeways,
use quieter roads.

Nancy
Some nights i ask why,
if we'll ever atone,
stars rain down like fire,
is it to our shame,
we extend the loans,
still so far from fame,
come close within my sight,
the wind is running cold,
stay a little while,
are kids and dogs your game,
then don't get old,
just remain the same,
when you hear me cry,
run from a hanging phone,
it's not enough to sigh,
buy some shiny nails,
let's get going,
a house is not a jail,
no matter how we fight,
reveal our yellow bones,
we can do this right,
breathe the ozone.

Maya
Fire and evening light,
won't make me read the news,
save the long goodbye,
escaping from that moan,
they always sings Blues,
in North or Southern tones,
this village is my life,
is always here to sooth,
not lost on freeway nights,
brings wisdom to my bones,
accepts all I do,
even to quietly atone,
living here's a paradise,
it brings a certain truth,
celebrates an easy life,
to shelter me at home,
sticks to me like glue,
far from being alone,
cities are full of spite,
life through locked windows,
who needs super sight,
to see who's fooling you?
Wednesday, 2 August 2023
Lily
Beat against my walls,
throw salt at the rain,
hover at infirmary's door,
thank God for my home,
you only bring shame,
looking always to gloat,
what are you good for,
living life on a train,
use only the local stores,
at least try to atone,
dance away my pain,
blow kisses down the phone,
you'll ship out the whores,
make my face turn pale,
Baby you'll roar,
don't ask me any more,
spinning out your games,
no one needs your jaw,
why always touch the bone,
never want to say,
love is always raw,
face yourself again.

Since you've gone away,
i don't know what to do,
but each night pray,
laugh in a hurricane zone,
see my face in pools,
flying like a drone,
don't trick me anyway,
the sea surrounds your crew,
are you on that plane,
lead me to the foam,
take me if you want to,
not just as a loan,
walls are turning grey,
the sky is always blue,
are you on the make,
I want to go alone,
not singing out my news,
with your bag of stones,
your eyes shine like jakes,
look at me in truth,
I'm risen that's the shame,
far too good for you.

Jodie
My red lips flash ornate,
in rooms where flowers grow,
champagne cognac to chase,
forget how much I blew,
banish the need to know,
I'll pawn all the jewels,
won't be an ingrate,
worry about the loans,
celebrate what remains,
I never once did sue,
others who let me down,
like larger parts of you,
why worry with fallen gain,
supper make do with bones,
fish around in drains,
believe me life's a ruse,
dream of good days gone,
waste no time on blues,
wouldn't it be great,
to belt it fresh anew,
die laughing in the rain,
feel you'll never lose.

Hail a ship for France,
say what you want to say,
won't get another chance,
don't let stages run untrue,
if your life is framed,
you're no fool,
face the fact you're banned,
if you let schemes fail,
innocently look askance,
tell you what to do,
when others rail,
try to make things smooth,
why bother to prance,
if evenings run dark pale,
passion always passes,
kindness might acrue,
if you plan to sail,
to some lonely purlieu,
sliding down the scale,
time has gone for dance,
turn things around again,
let us talk finance.

Hadley
We share jokes and put,
hope risen to appear,
like geese in the dusk,
no one hires a clown,
to be ushered in here,
someone who lets us down,
for those not fussed,
we'll always give a cheer,
one's we nearly lost,
in our Ocean town,
when the skies are clear,
we'll sail the Sound,
celebrate sunshine's thrust,
he arrives like the deer,
with a hint of musk,
in hazy bars he's known,
makes us forget fear,
never on his own,
we brush the falling tears,
each night is a must,
the laughs and happy years,
howl before the dust.
Gloria
If I was on my toes
around your fire,
why be so morose,
what is it you refuse,
is me in that choir,
my voice losing,
another chance to show,
balancing on strange wires,
what I need to glow,
now I'm just the fool,
the one who enquires,
who pays for these jewels,
lessens pain more than now,
exposes all the liars,
by my age alone,
blood is a smoky blue,
why don’t you require,
me to tell the truth,
my God i look old,
you don't need a sire,
to say c'mon old bones,
let's fix your tyres.

Felicity
I'll pray in the rain,
swear life upon my mother,
stuff you can't fake,
hope is free to use,
lifts the stuff you smother,
a place of refuge,
can you see that portrait,
it looks a happy soldier,
that's me in the frame,
whatever money you lose,
don't curse like my brother,
still to pay his dues,
hard stuff fires the brain,
fools live without trouble,
then run away,
pity them under dread curfew,
I'll dance unlike the others,
desperate calls to ruin,
you can say whatever gain,
leaves you as my lover,
spirits rise and fall away,
I need you undercover.

Ella
I set the right tone,
neither freeway nor the Spa,
gets me off this joke,
a trail that's well used,
instead of burning tar,
circles rise around you,
Saints reveal their bones,
they don't take me far,
who does passion alone,
doesn't need a feud,
someplace to crash the car,
to know what to do,
best not to drink alone,
at some scuzzy bar,
he's not coming home,
head out for the blue,
wave at them ta ra,
dance with all the dudes,
mine is not a lucky star,
safe within a credit zone,
but am not yet ga ga,
even if he never 'phones.

Give no eye to trains,
don't ever hear them moan,
show that it's your way,
forget what's on your mind,
in this life of soul,
you're not the lonely kind,
singing makes them salivate,
turns us all to stone,
hands wrapped frame your face,
you won't take fright,
acting like a dope,
for any truth they find,
always rise against the grain,
stand out there alone,
don't worry if some hesitate,
your songs let them unwind,
say you are their own,
not what you keep inside,
bum notes make you quake,
all your faults they know,
see this as loose change,
where else can you go?
Monday, 24 July 2023
Carly
Look at me you Nerd,
I'm shaping up to leave,
tell me you're not scared,
like fish swim away,
your eyes won't see,
mutter that it's a shame,
I can take the hurt,
your refusal to believe,
not really being there,
always a bit too late,
as if you'd need,
to post a packing crate,
why worry if I slur,
know what might have been,
you don't really care,
not even kneel to pray,
for a life of ease,
when I'm off the rails,
is it these grey hairs,
do I need new teeth,
will you bring a chair,
do I have to scream?
Sunday, 23 July 2023
Bella
Say you'll cheat fate,
always wear a red raincoat,
find gold in shipping crates,
this is what you do,
never known a cold,
laugh like it's part of you,
you always turn up late,
forgot again your 'fone,
nothing's cpmes to waste,
give money to fools,
they carry no float,
who knows if that's true,
so on your way,
you're on your own,
scoff at those who hesitate,
if you go boom,
when they need a show,
they have their own rooms,
cold grey emails,
jelly your bones,
leave tham at the gate,
this time you're done.

Annie
Respeldent desolate mail,
sets a passage clear,
nothing else must fail,
carry love within our home,
either far or near,
to show we're not alone,
nothing's left to bail,
raise toasts for different years,
let's not be derailed,
if talking makes you groan,
make laughter a career,
don't worry about the loans,
dance through horrid tales,
nothing else to fear,
who needs extra sails,
dream of other thrones,
nightmares at our rear,
ahead are golden domes,
bring me salty snails,
pans to ease my cheer,
food and wine and ale,
try another phone,
perform for tentative ears,
on twisted paths we're blown,
ignore the post this year.

Zena
Oh go away will you,
don't say i'm your fate,
love's not for fools,
it's useless to sing,
say sorry you're late,
whatever your thing,
to hell with sweet rumour,
when I pulsate,
it won't be with you,
you don't mean a thing,
no special case,
shiny suits and gold rings,
you'll borrow the moon,
deny church or state,
to break down my curfew,
you're never my cling,
even visions aren't great,
can't see anything,
I lie in dull ruin,
a warm heavy daze,
forget all my truths,
I'm with you today.

You live life by drips,
yours is not a big sea,
the blue light hid,
only fools hesitate,
bring each day few gifts,
it lets you dissipate,
latticed with fibs,
all just a wheeze,
where your truth lies bid,
this is no child’s game,
dancing around your greed,
your cherished ways,
what about the kids,
how they are squeezed,
while you're gone adrift,
wings won't striate,
their flight on the breeze,
can't wait to get away,
if you knew how to live,
we wouldn't need,
to hide from your lips,
nor walk unsseing.

His lips twist like knives,
he is not forgiving,
his eyes embrace the tide,
what else is new,
is it me he's kidding,
on trips to secret venues,
my mother says stay wise,
he'll make you earn the living,
many a tortured night,
no love runs smooth,
his tobacco tongue of lies,
maybe it's all true,
maybe she's right,
he's fresh alive and swimming,
sunlight, water, sky,
he delights the whole crew,
laughter's in his grinning,
my nails are bright blue,
I dance the river wide,
my fame belongs to winning,
nail him with my smile,
he'll cave in.

Vicky
I float on the breeze,
heaven's in my soul,
no need to say please,
am witness to your plight,
still less our home,
with your weary lies,
nothing new to me,
better that i go,
with this sense of ease,
you mark many a night,
beseiged by shadows,
you won't hear me crying,
a taste of release,
I strike a cheerful tone,
saves me some dignity,
it just feels right,
escaping the loans,
takes time to get wise,
just goes to show,
when I'm off the leash,
you know in your bones,
best not to speak.

Brilliant great crows,
caw out your name,
summer's in full flow,
you want to be free,
is this really your game,
how to live happy,
give what you don't know,
register your shame,
find your own hollow,
dissolve in the sea,
only fools act tame,
it's not in your creed,
to number each bone,
circle every day,
taste marshmallows,
stones, flowers, pieces,
obtain drunken oblates,
swear your great grief,
weep as you go,
take your share of blame,
drink whisky you're told,
am sick of your fame.

Sarah
In darkness and grain blue,
please give me a sign,
rid me of this cuckoo,
is it me gone cold,
others see the light,
maybe some you've told,
my tears are tapping shoes,
why waste crying,
you are such bad news,
cant be bothered to scold
lightning fills the sky,
good times hard to hold,
with your spinning hoops,
eyes in constant flight,
care becomes your issue,
it makes me feel bold,
you castigate my life,
just get out this home,
I will fix a fuse,
explode all your lies,
all the hopeless truths,
bells ring on the wold,
strangers will ight fires,
I am the god of old,
who knows i'm right?

These waters groan,
I whisper your name,
your ship has gone,
don't know what to do,
a brilliant stain,
covers your truth,
can you ever atone,
what's sought in your name,
now I'm alone,
how unlovely is the news,
that echoes in your place,
wish I'd never met you,
whatever has flown,
look over the waste,
can't believe we're done,
the sea is lemon blue,
my face is drained,
you've joined another crew,
find another home,
you'll always be the same,
God knows I'm strong,
but not the same.

Memories alone are phased,
so happy to tease,
the shine upon your face,
you recoil at my thunder,
innocence complete,
your mind fixed by number,
my calls came too late,
another time to squeeze,
what I need to say,
a life uncluttered,
my insides screech,
go look for another lover,
one day I'll find my own,
even in my sleep ,
a dream surrendered,
who has greater muster,
grit in crossing the sea,
are we born to suffer,
am I the disgrace,
who has to beat a retreat,
bound fast to your days,
does it make you wonder,
stones, graves wreaths,
who breaks who asunder,
not knowing what to say,
unknowing to appear easy,
just look away,
a spirit released ?

Chained to your days,
can your heart forgive,
his treacherous ways,
it's best not to know,
or mereley rescind,
what's been the joke,
why live in a haze,
sheltered from the wind,
not stuck like cellophane,
make out on your own,
throw his stuff in skips,
put meat on them bones,
find love instead of trade,
welcome moonlight shifts,
no matter what he says,
when drunks start to blow,
ask if you're fit,
move out of that zone,
why jump the trains,
figure how to win,
there's no perfect way,
to learn how to give.

Why do these waters shine,
brightly whisper your name,
when your ship sails alone,
don't know what I'm doing,
it's all a stupid game,
canvas stalks our soul,
can I ever disown,
how I bought your game,
deep within my bones,
sail unlovely in the new,
a plan that brings disgrace,
makes me dream of you,
wherever birds have flown,
do they know the waste,
in this mud filled town,
the sea is brimming too,
your face is drained,
nothing more is true,
I'll find another home,
will try to stay sane,
I know what's gone,
is it me you blame?

Who can ever say,
you'll love it here,
dancing in the flames,
hell is just a slogan,
our eyes are very clear,
we sing sing as we go,
wouldn't it be great,
to live without fear,
blow in like a hurricane,
we'll pay back the loans,
drink less beer,
we still have a home,
nowhere's just a name,
its no place for cheer,
but no panic reigns,
problems the tide flows,
it just brings us near,
closer to our soul,
a spring moon today,
it gkides across the Mere ,
birds have gone away,
life is too dear?

A flower at your side,
just some little token,
than one day be a bride,
ribbons flutter in your hair,
laugh at stuff unspoken,
you'll always be just there,
drunk enough to ask why,
accept you've been chosen,
to always touch the sky,
die at all the hurt,
childhood dreams have awoken,
outside of anyone's care,
beseech heaven's insight,
neither shrunk unknowing,
beyond asking why,
say a little prayer,
forget about uncloaking,
no husband wants to share,
sing your favourite lullaby,
verify love has spoken,
a cloud sails the sky,
you remain unbroken.

Dance a poor girl's Blues,
sing softly on the wire,
you always pay your dues,
if no one 'phones,
given time expires,
let them go alone,
each little bit of you,
parts they desire,
haven't got a clue,
life's not a cherry stone,
you spit in the fire,
why should you follow,
their choice of ruin,
sings louder than a choir,
laugh at such tunes,
know in your bones,
they'll try to act wiser,
keep close to home,
whoever brings bad news,
screams who's for hire,
seek your own truth,
no one calls you liar.

Take your time,
shoulder what's to come,
drink a glass of wine,
get through this trouble,
he thinks he's so tough,
will no longer corrupt,
forget his broken life,
singing in your blood,
that's for another time,
all that you loathe,
you now discover,
is acting out what's told,
Oh he's entwined,
silent in his cups,
stories of his wife,
no more betrayals,
phrases that he's dubbed,
you laugh at his failure,
hear the clock chime,
he's so misunderstood,
remember well that line,
hand him back his love.

Take me to the train,
it's my turn to speak,
listen to that rain,
you'll see a sunlit avenue,
not a roof that leaks,
free from all bad news,
thats whewre I want to play,
far from this house of geeks,
Paris, Marseilles,
we'll be there soon,
from this bed that creaks,
astray from hostal rooms,
somewhere sunny opaque,
without crazy freaks,
midnight come out to play,
you'll see me bloom,
with inner feelings,
if you sing these tunes,
just spin me away,
love turns at ninety degrees,
then you'll hear me say,
I'll drink the sea.

Are you so unaware,
think your c'mon on's great,
I don't even care,
am not looking for a home,
a veil across my face,
you're too far gone,
there's no need to share,
a spin on your Saturday,
I'm not even there,
I'll have fun alone,
when your image fades,
practice dancing on my own,
wonder about combed over hair,
like a great traipse,
so little time to spare,
a hymn to what once shone,
when the shutter's raise,
something's now cold,
what makes you dare,
to pull my traces again,
can't you understand,
everything's too late?

Who can dream of empathy,
sitting on a wall,
too drunk even to speak,
why raise the stakes,
he mighn't come at all,
useless dates we make,
I wait for the seasons,
with my crown of thorns,
have given up on reason,
he could arrive with grace,
laugh instead of careworn,
should I act brave,
he studies me with ease,
like i've been caught,
pissing in the sea,
lends a hand that shakes,
absence in his call,
understands why I hesitate,
this is not really me,
jellied to my core,
a flower of deep uncertainty,
scared of being torn.
Gabi
Da's agin in the pen,
our pillows are not soaked,
you stand there bereft,
if you think he's class,
consider him gone,
he'll never eat grass,
always first to the Den,
laughs at us dopes,
thinks he's the only one,
he won't be assed,
leaving you alone,
will just shoot more gas,
can't sit and pretend,
we want him back home,
there's nothing he's left,
on a chair bound fast,
holding a lover's phone,
don't care what happens,
you say we can help,
pray that we'll cope,
Ma you're a mess,
we splice our own rope.

You'd scream would you,
when she demands another loan,
talks of her bad news,
sunlight,water,sky,
you avoid that ocean boom,
God knows maybe she's right,
she shimmers down the avenue,
her daisy head is blown,
she paints us lemon blue,
howling jangles to the night,
we try to impose a curfew,
avoid the constant fights,
when she cries for truth,
you say she's not alone,
drains me just to argue,
what's worse is her rights,
says we've gone to ruin,
you, me, all our lives,
before asking for her due,
hunger reveals our don'ts,
leaves us here to stew,
she wants another home ?

Please don't moan,
I'll stifle my screams,
stay a rolling stone,
a knife to my throat,
you know how it's been,
what keeps me going,
I just want a throne,
to perch by the sea,
searching for love,
why dance on my ghosts,
no more a has been,
you like that the most,
when you don't come home,
is that what you mean,
if I butter the toast,
maybe you groan,
you once used to tease,
won't break my bones,
am not here to atone,
for your busted schemes,
neither to loan,
more of my dreams.

A cracked afternoon,
maybe offers some light,
makes me feel cool,
here in this game,
a race for your life,
it's who holds the reins,
don't act like a fool,
or try to be wise,
stop doing things you do,
if you're looking for gain,
heart thrums like a firefly,
let's look another way,
what makes it so cruel,
you're hurting inside,
being used like a mule,
if they ask the same,
try skimming the tides,
expose all their waste,
put on good shoes,
take a long train ride,
who needs to be ruled,
now you've chimed.

You're never a girl,
that curses and blasts,
your mind in a whirl,
face like a stone,
how you look your best,
too late to go home,
won't wear silken furls,
these men who want sex,
impassive as pearls,
they stalk you like ghosts,
prone to collapse,
can't face to be alone,
your hair doesn't curl
at what they ask,
their begging for a third,
you fling them a toast,
let them drink aghast,
forget what they like most,
say you cook with gas.

You can leave or show,
it's not too late,
if you want another home,
no need face the ruins,
worry about unkind fate,
you're no one's fool,
maybe a rolling stone,
kicks open a broken gate,
luck is when it rolls,
they'll arrive soon,
our family of escapes,
will mock all about you,
ask who you've cloned,
laugh at their stupid games,
what's your credit score,
don't mind their looks,
you're good for a loan,
refuse their Christian books,
play too cool to roam,
nothing else to state,
no knife at your throat,
love has a rebate.

Gone is the time,
i covered for you,
your Ma's the real crime,
why make it easy,
when she wants to intuit,
nothing will please,
clothes cashmere wine,
she spreads her false truth,
each step of the envy,
I don't do breezy,
why disguise the news,
she hates how I speak,
what you put aside,
she uses like a tool,
says it sharpens her mind,
shakes golden car keys,
uses you like her mule,
each day of your Odyssey,
I won't wait in line,
to witness her Blues,
I treated you fine,
who is the fool ?
