Seventy One

You can swear and blow, it's not too late, if you want to come home, no need to face ruin, or worry about an escape, you're no one's fool, or a rolling stone, fix that broken gate, luck's when it rolls, they'll arrive soon, mad families of the waves, mock everything about you, step closer to the zone, you'll survive their gaze, temper don't hesitate, or mind their hooks, you'll always need a loan, from careful Christian books, you're too cool to roam, nothing else to gain, no knife's at your throat, love has no rebate.

Seventy

You're never a girl, that curses and blasts, your mind in a whirl, face like a stone, it's best you look now, not worth going home, won't wear silken furls, for men who feel trapped, permaanent as pearls, they ring you like ghosts, first to collapse, knowing life is your own, your head doesn't twirl, a scarf worn for mass, you go downstairs, they beg at your post, drink wine aghast, ask what you like most, turn that flame down, you cook with gas, you're never that girl, who figures it last.

Sixty Nine

A cracked open spoon, may offer me hindsight, make you feel cool, here in this game, a race for your life, who holds the reins, you act like a fool, cooked over lies, stop doing what you do, if your eyes look in pain, your brain like a firefly, let others go their way, what makes it so cruel, I'm dying inside, face like a cooked mule, if anyone asks why, say you're staying sane, can't afford the knife, don't act goody two shoes, dancing on the wine, who need your rule, I'll be fine.

Sixty Eight

Please don't moan, stifle your screams, stay a rolling stone, a knife to my throat, you know where i've been, does that keep you going, I just want a throne, to perch by the sea, searching for love, why dance on my ghosts, a life as a queen, you like that the most, when you don't come home, is that what you mean, if I butter the toast, maybe you groan, you once used to tease, don't break my bones, I'm not here to atone, for your busted dreams, neither to loan, my eyes to your schemes.

Sixty Seven

Who can dream of empathy, sitting on a wall, too drunk enough to speak, why raise the stakes, a fear of being torn, the useless dates we make, I wait for the seasons, with my crown of thorns, giving up on reason, you'll arrive with grace, instead of cast forlorn, I have to act brave, you study me with ease, like i've been caught, pissing in the sea, lend a hand that shakes, absence is your call, understand why I hesitate, this is not really me, jellied to my core, a flower of deep uncertainty, you never wore.

Sixty Six

You'd scream would you, when she demands another loan, talks of her bad news, sunlight, water, sky, lit like some ocean boom, God knows you're right, she walks down the avenue, her daisy head is blown, she plays us lemon blue, spinning pennies in the night, we try to break curfew, leave out all the fights, when she cries for truth, we know she's not alone, can't be assed to argue, what's worse is the silence, all that's gone to ruin, me, my wife, our lives, before asking for her due, this girl reveals our bones, leaves us here to stew, she's never coming home.

Sixty Five

Your Da's in the pen, our stomachs need hope, you stand there bereft, if you think that's class, consider him gone, you'll never eat grass, always first to the Den, they laugh all the dopes, you're his first son, he won't be assed, to leave us alone, could forever shoot gas, don't sit there pretend, you want him back home, the mess he's left, on a brown chair crackin', or with a lover's phone, doesn't care what happens, you say can you help, or ask if we'll cope, kid you're a Schlepp, we splice our own rope.
